What do you think of Fox Reality Channel's new show "The Academy"

Posted almost 6 years ago "The Academy", on Fox Reality Channel, has debuted and follows a class of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office recruits. As someone who runs a police academy, I have found this to be an interesting show to watch. It certainly is a great recruitment tool for the L. A. County Sheriff's Office and I understand that they did not give up editorial control in the negotiations. What do you think of the new show? |

| Posted almost 6 years ago I wouldn't want to educate criminals on what kind of training we do though. That would be my only concern but it's a neat show. DETERMINATION: "In the heart of the strong shines a relentless ray of resolve...It cannot be stopped, it cannot be controlled, and it will not fail." Floyd Baldo

| Posted almost 6 years ago I'm with Baldo on this one. Reality TV shows have gone downhill in a bad way. Still though, it is cool show. Another upside is that the public can see just how difficult it can be to become a police officer. Everything you do can get you killed, including doing nothing at all.. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago I have been through the LASD Academy, been a trainer there and Love the show. I do like the fact that I can re-live my training while laying in bed and now my daughters can see a little bit of what we go through during our training. I was the first class Sgt. and was told I was being picked for that because of my military background so the others can see how to deal with the stress and they hit me hard and fast. So watching the new recruits get hammered is great. As far as educating criminals on what we are trained on I hope the show will only touch on the training and not let it all out. But if you have ever worked in custody then you know they already know too much. Great show, love it and hope it lasts. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Okay all if it’s on demand what channel? (I have cable on demand) I am planning on going through the academy in August so I would like to see what I will be heading for... Also I agree with Baldo => “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”

| Posted almost 6 years ago The show brings back memories of my basic training days in the Air Force. I give it a "****" rating for trying to keep it real as possible. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago This is a cable channel, isn't it? We cancelled our cable, and decided to do without, as we were watching too much TV. This sounds like something that I would have enjoyed watching! |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Yes, I've seen this show. It's "hard core". No-holds-bar. Although it is a nice and informative show for us all in LAW ENFORCEMENT, I would have to agree with Baldo on this one: it may be a bit too informative for the "criminal" of minds. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Does anyone know if it's aired in Austin, Tx? I can't find it anywhere. Also, I doubt all the criminals are glued to the tube watching this, they're too busy out on the streets doing what they do best, committing crimes. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Hey SUPERTROOPER check this link out...it may help http://www.foxreality.com/show.php?id=25292 . I think you can view clips or even portions of episodes online. Its a good show. I think it depicts life in a hard core academy. Mine was not this intense, however I'm sure its pumped up a bit for dramatization. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Love it, love it, love it! Recently they had a marathon to catch people up; it was great! I'm w/Baldo tho on the criminal education part. Most LE based shows are scrutinized for just that but it's all about ratings :) |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Yeah, but they don't go into depth with their training. They show them hit the focus gloves a couple times, so what? |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Great show. It's raw and gives insight as to what future recruits can expect in a police academy. I do also feel that the LASD academy screams and yells and gets into the faces of the recruits a little bit too much. No matter what anybody says, it does cause bad feelings between the recruit and the training officer. And by the way, what the heck is a "Ram Rod" |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Okay so I finally got to see the academy... My thoughts are its pretty cool except I was hoping for more details lol... Never less it gets me more excited and a little nervous to go through the academy.... Defiantly an encouragement for those who really want to be an officer... “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”
