I heard on the news the other day (Monday the 13th I believe) that there was a shooting at the Alamo Community College Northeast campus (just north of San Antonio, TX). A 60 year old part-time librarian shot and killed a 30 year old full time instructor/librarian. After the shooting, the suspect sat down at a table waiting to be arrested.

Just goes to show once again, you never know when and where a shooting will occur.

That is so true.  Academians are beginning to realize that and are taking progressive steps to address those possibilities.

Following a gunman opened fire, security procedures were put in place. The University of Texas campus has been locked down for safety. One, possibly two gunmen entered the Perry-Castaneda library and began shooting.

The proof is here: University of Texas locked down - UT shooting this morning

The only person hurt or killed was the shooter. That person evidently committed suicide. Until the security teams clear the entire campus, areas around the college will stay locked down. This move is for the safety of students and staff.

I think these are two different shooting, I had heart of the UT-Austin one but not of the the ACC -San Antonio one.
