Freezing cold January night an old Blazer drove by me with a headlight out. To show a little activity I turned around and stopped it. I have to this day never seen more movement in a vehicle that I have stopped. I called the stop in and advised dispatch that the vehicle was occupied 5x and there was alot of movement in the vehicle. 2 back up crusiers started my way (both 2 towns away). I approached the driver and asked him for his information. He stated that he did not have a license. I asked him if he didnt have it with him or he just didnt have one. He stated that his license was suspended. Ok.....no biggie. I asked him for his typical info and he gave it willing. Then his family that was in the vehicle started mouthing off. "You pulled him over cause he's black, you have no right to stop us." (The vehicle had tinted windows) I then advised them that the vehicle had a headlight out and thats why the stop had occured. I then asked the operator to get out of the car and come to the rear to talk to me. (Back up just arrived) I asked the operator why he was driving, he stated that his son was too tired to drive and he didnt want him to get hurt while he was driving. OK......no problem. Then dispatch came back that the operator had 3 warrants for operating after. Well.....that changes everything. I hooked the operator. He was pretty nice......except for the family. Now the strange part was this guy hadn't shown up for 3 court appearances.....and the bail clerk set bail at $40.......we still have an active warrant for my charges 3 years ago.....surprise
