Posted about 6 years ago I am 23 and have thought about joining law enforcement, but don't know where to start. I live in Columbus ,IN and have no criminal record. HOw would I go about becoming an officer or sherrif. I also have 40 credit hours of college in Exercise Science at vincennes university. |

| Posted about 6 years ago You could start by going to your local PD website & click the recruiting link. I'm sure you'll find out when their test dates are & the requirements for employment. Good Luck. |

| Posted about 6 years ago Call your local PD's or check websites like Thanos said. Find out what their hiring process is. You will most likely have to take a written, physical, and oral tests. Good luck. |

| Posted about 6 years ago I am 21 and going to be graduating next may. I want to go into law enforcement but just dont know which route to go down. I really want to work with narcotics. Ive thought local, state, federal, DEA. I just can't figure out how I should go about choosing the right route for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| Posted about 6 years ago areale86, first to be able to get into Narcotics you first must work as a patrol officer for a number of years and prove yourself. You need to show that you are able to make numerous drug arrests while on patrol and you are a good, dedicated officer. I hope I was able to help a little. |

| Posted about 6 years ago epass, i'm entering the final phase of the hiring process for a mid sized city here in california. Let me tell you its a long process from start to finish, so just be patient. For starting out like thanos said go to the websites to see if they're recruiting trainees, then call around to the human resources dept to agencies you'd like to work for. Find out when the written and physical test are and apply. Good luck to you buddy. |
