I just started collecting patches... as you are all aware -they add up fast. So...heres the topic -What are the best ways to display your collection? What works or doesnt work?

The best bang for the buck and nicest way to display is going to someplace like Walmart and buying the 2" x 3" cork bulletin board for like $9.  You can fit 4 rows of 7 patches on it.  Staple them in place (3 to 4 staples).  Get the shrink wrap you can buy at any Home Depot to use to cover/insulate windows.  Put the double-side tape all around the frame, cut plastic to size, lay it on, press, get out your hair dryer, and voila, looks impressive for the effort and price.

After that comes photo albums with the sticky pages, these you put on a bookshelf just for you rpatches, then when your collection gets into the thousands, you go to ziplock bags.  Then empty copy paper cardboard boxes, then the basment, then the garage, then your wife kicks you out, then you have to sell your collection, and that's how that goes.   Have fun.

Hard to beat Ohio Blue's  "plan"  Most of mine are in a large plastic tub or as shown on my profile page, in $5 frames from Big Lots.

Ohio, that is so true.

I am sitting at around 4,000 patches.  The easiest way I found to display them is a poster display frame, you can get them for around $9 anywhere (target, walgreens, wal-mart) and they fit roughly 30 patches depending on the size of the patch.  My main display is my website, otherwise I only really display my badges and a few patches, but in my opinion, stay away from the photo albums with the sticky pages, they take up way too much space in the long run.  A collector here in MN has about 20 of them or so full, I would imagine that is a PITA to store...  I store my patches in a lateral filing cabinet with legal size hanging folders taped shut on both sides, then I just have each folder as an individual state or category.

good luck,
