| Posted over 2 years ago I would test for the NYPD, but my wife would never move. We have a great house in NJ and it's close to her parents. That is real important to her. Any chance they will ever change the residency requirements? |

| Posted over 2 years ago They will probably never change the residency requirements. You must live in Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam counties, or the 5 boroughs of NYC. |

| Posted over 2 years ago Nope. They did do away with residency points in promotion exams though! |

| Posted over 2 years ago Being a cadet pays for college, and gets you some minimal paperwork experience at a precinct, but you must join the department after that, or else you have to pay back all of the college money. |

| Posted about 1 year ago I took and passed the test a year ago and they are still contacting me to join but I'm thinking about joining corrections instead because I do not think I can live on the pay. I also heard they want to put a freeze on the hiring so if I join corrections I could always transfer to any other LE position. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Haven't heard anything about any new classes coming in, but I do know they changed the testing policy and its now an open exam. All you need to do to test for the NYPD is show up before 10 A.M. at the Dept of Personnel in lower Manhattan with a pencil and an ID.
Justice is the one thing you should always find... |

| Posted about 1 year ago I don't know if you guys agree, but don't be surprise if they lower the college credit requirements to try to get more candidates. Maybe go with 39 credits instead of the requirement of 60. |
