WHEW! Thought there was a new model that I was going to have to rush out and buy. I've heard of the 17L and the 17C, but never the 17M .

Don't dog on the 17...it's a fabulous weapon. Ask yourself this question: Would YOU want to be shot with a 9mm? I sure as hell wouldn't.

When i was in the USAF teaching weapons classes, every M9 class the students would ask, " when are we gonna get .45's.. this 9mm wont kill a damn thing". I'd always tell them. " Well... this may not be very politically correct, but the Nazi's killed millions of people with the 9mm bullet... you didnt hear them complaining"

that usually shut em up.

There is nothing wrong with a 9mm. Hell even a .45 ACP you may have to put 7 rounds in someone before they hit  the dirt! Its all about shot placement and I personally love the Glock 9mm series.

Do not get me wrong I love my 9mm, just most people on here are .45 buffs like those to. I was prepared to catch some slack, but good to see I have some support. I think it all comes down to shot placement.

I use to carry a Glock 22 but switched to a Glock 21 with Surefire X200 w/ pressure switch. I also have carried a Glock 27 as a backup but switched to a SW 340PD revolver due to the weight issue. I have and shoot several Glocks. (17,22,26,27,30,36) All are 3rd Generation.

I am carrying a Glock 23.  I don't wear uniform and this is a good weapon to have with you without looking like your carrying a cannon.

Right now I carry my 22 RTF2 but as soon as I get my ammo in the mail then I will be carrying my 20SF the 10mm is great.  Love all the glocks they have next to no recoil in all the models I have shot.  Which is everything except for the .45 GAP models.

All officers on our department are issued Glock 22.  They have the option of being issued a Glock 27 for off duty carry if they want.  About 80 of the officers have the 27 for off-duty, back-up.  If you are going to carry off-duty, you must either carry the 22/27.  They made that mandate and they buy the guns.  Now here is the kicker....If you can't qualify, or have a hard time qualifying, you can move to the Model 17/19 .9mm.  If you want to go the other way, you can carry the 21/21SF/30 if you so desire.  You will purchase the gun, the department buys the ammo.

I am currently transitioning to the 21SF from the 22.
