Yep! Keep it at home, including those monstrous sums we send as part of our Foreign Policy.  A few missed payments to our friends who sell us that overpriced oil wouldn't hurt them.  When they sell us oil at the same price they are paying at their own pumps, send them a thank You Card and keep the money we send them.

I think every country we have ever helped rebuild should pay us back for what we did for them, we would be out of debt. Bring our soilders home and put them on the borders. Any illegals found in this country shipped out right away. We should not have to wait for a conviction of a crime to send them packing. They should be packaged up and sent as soon as they are found and while they are at it. pack up the ACLU and send them too.

We need to re-adopt the isolationist strategy of pre-WWI America.  How can you police someone elses backyard, when yours is a mess?

If the politicians are so gungho to bail out something, why don't they bail out social security?

I'd rather see all of congress have their retirement plan switched to Social Security instead of the big $$$ they get upon retirement.  Then we might see Social Security become a much better retirement system.

We need support for our troops, many whose families lose their homes when they are overseas.  To have veterans on the streets is something America should be ashamed about.  Its a slap in the face to all vets living or deceased to give $$$ to illegals while at the same time our new president elect is including those illegals in his plan for health coverage.

Looks like the new presidents "plans" are without doubt socialist..............wealth distributition.  We the taxpayers should vote on where our taxes go.

I belive we should invest more into our counrty. However we tried that isolation ideal before any body remember WWII. The USA is effected by every other country. The more we do over seas the more we protect our country at home. I have done 4 tours to Iraq and Afgan. Unless you have been there you cant know what is really going on over there, and the impact we have. I have encountered people who with their every being hated our country. They made bombs to kill me and my brother in arms. Then I saw there kids and they had US flags in hand. Telling us to not go here there is an ambush ahead. My point is we make a real diff. And for us to only think of ourselves would not be very american.

I kinda of get aggrivated about the economy because soo many companies want bailed out now with no end in sight.  I did real estate investing and can tell you first hand the under handed crap that went down with the banks and the mortgage crisis has had a terrible affect on the economy. That being said..... WE ARE STILL GIVING OUR MONEY AWAY.  We're in soo much debt as a nations it's crazy yet we are still helping others. I dont get it.  Maybe I'm crazy but we need to help our own first then others.  Who knows.

BIG BUMP!

JPSarge says ...

I'd like to know how many LEOs out there would like to see the USA stop giving billions to other countries while our own is falling apart.  Think about the damage from natural disasters, border disputes and "sanctuary cities".  We need to take care of our own first, or we'll be a third rate country in no time.

I gotta go with JPSarge,,,,lets keep the money here.  We send billions to countries who HATE our guts.  The United States foots over 22% of the bill over at the United Nations and the UN constantly gives us the finger on the world stage.  I say kick them out of New York, tell them to go find someone else to sponge off of .. Sanctuary cities, cut them off too.  If they feel that the United States Government doesnt have the right to tell them what the laws are then they shouldnt have an issue with the Government cutting off all housing, highway, health and human service money ect....Lets see how "tolerant" the people of San Francisco are when the government that they dispise so much cuts off the money that pays for all those services for illegals and such

AGREED, mostly. The treatment of our veterans is shameful and untenable. Health care for everyone including "illegals" will benefit us all. Healthy people, or at least as healthy as can be ensures our families personal health isn't compromised due to the rampant spread of disease. The lack of adequate screening of LEGAL immigrants and their attendant diseases is causing a resurgence of diseases previously "wiped out" in the USA.

Socialist influence in our government isn't new or anything specific to PE Obama. Social Security is just one glaring example of socialism, and a good example of how and why so many things the government messes with gets corrupted.

Wealth redistribution's been going on since even before Income taxes began some 200+ years ago. I personally believe a little redistribution is a good thing. That's why I contribute to my church and several charities, so they can help people who are in need. I feel it makes my world safer.

What I don't get is you got countries like France (a corrupt country that had their own hands in the cookie jar with the Oil for Food program [hence why they didn't want us to go to Iraq]) criticize the US for not giving enough aid (like when the Philippines had their tsunami) but they sit back and laugh at us and say we deserve what happened during Katrina.

Not a single country raised their hand and said "hey, we'll help out!" Everyone just sat back and fueled the fire of criticism saying "if your troops weren't in Iraq, they could have helped with that."

It's sad, really. When other countries need help we're supposed to be the first to go and the last to leave...but when it's us, everyone sits back and says if we minded our own business we could have handled it ourselves.

Well, I say that when the next little country to goes up in smoke we just sit on our hands in the corner and watch what happens. Not just keep the money in our pockets...but keep the troops at our own shore as well.

Of course, however, the UN is useless to do anything actually meaningful- so we will have to step in eventually....but at that point there will probably so much blood spilled that all these little liberal countries (UK, France, Sweden) are all unanimously screaming "HELP!" Instead of whining about how much we act like we're the World's Police.

political views are political views and everyone is entlited to them.

However, the USA simply cannot withdraw from the rest of the world and look inward only. It may be a hard pill to swallow, but security and development in the 3rd World is actually an investment in our own security back home as well as an outstanding way to build up foreign markets for "American interests.'

The GWOT isnt simply about giving money out to other countries...its about making sure those countries can deal with their own. Sorry to say folks, terrorism will not be going away any time soon. This is going to be SOP long after everyone on this forum has passed away.

B U M  P  ! !  Talk about hitting the TEN RING ! !  ABSOLUTELY, the US's interests are so deeply intertwined with those of the rest of the world it's impossible to revert to isolationism. I fear that would just serve to embolden those whose primary desire and goal in their miserable lives is our destruction.

Nope, as hard as it is we can't just crawl into a hole hoping no one will notice our absence. That being said, it would be really great if a way could be found to retain more of the country's wealth and help our own.

Agreed, but lets let some of the other countries out there take some of the weight off our shoulders....especially when we're in a recession. The same thing can be said for the rest of the world as well...but it seams like we've got more of the pie than anyone else combined.

We cannot and should not be isolationists but we should also make sure that any "aid" that we provide is for the right reason and to the right people. We currently sent billions of $'s to Israel who is a country whose National Budget is in the black, why? We spend billions in the UN which is a useless and corrupt organization that is not longer useful. France has not been our friend for well over a hundred years and owes us trillions. The UK has been our ally and we should always work with our allies. We send money to fly by night governments for aid and the money just goes into the pockets of a few corrupt individuals. The hell with them, help fix the USA by lowering taxes so that the economy can recover. Also get rid of the pork in our own budget and spend the taxpayers money wisely.

All worthwhile goals but no more than lofty pipe-dreams I fear. Were that it could be better but politics will never really change for the better, not while there's so much money and graft easily at hand.

Keep the money where it belongs until the people here are taken care of, then (maybe) give some of what's left to our few good allies if they are in need and let the rest see how they're doing on their own. America doesn't owe any of them a thing. No other country's worth American children going to bed hungry.

The reason we give so much money to Israel is because they are such a strong ally of ours, have always been.  They are the one true democracy surrounded by hostile nations who want to wipe them out.  They also keep things in check in the middle east. Their defense budget is largely funded by American money. That way, Israel can deal with Hiz'b'Allah, Islamic Jihad, Muslim Brotherhood, and Hamas. We dont have to deal with any of them...and those organizations concentrate on Israel.

Im a proponent of the expiditionary military philosohpy. If we can kill terrorists in other countries, smash terrorist networks in far flung foreign lands, and degrade terrorist ability to make millions off poppy, then lets do it.

Because if we dont, YOU police officers will be dealing with these issues in American cities.....subburban America.....elementary schools...etc etc.

Its been a good many years since a terrorist attack on U.S. soil hasnt it folks.....

B U M P  ! !    Dang, man. Your aim is amazingly accurate. Another 10 ring. Funding Israel is way, way cheaper than the cost of the US deploying assets way over there. This way the saved money can be spent on our legislators.   LOL

Since I took the oath, I cannot say I have agreed with everything the politicians have instituted post-9/11, but most of it I have....and definately agree with the offensive stance against terrorism. Got to fight that menace where it festers...where its bigwigs are...where they plan...where they train...where they conive to come up with grand ways of killing American civilians. The more we keep the fight in places like the horn of Africa (where Taskforce Horn of Africa is currently deployed to in support of Operation Enduring Freedom), Afghanistan, Iraq, the Phillippines, and Pakistan...the less we see the characters involved showing up in Cincinatti, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami....or small town USA...where many of the 9/11 hijackers lived and trained.

Like I said, people have certain political views no matter what they are, and they are more than entitled to them...that is freedom in a real democracy. Ive been lucky enough to be on the front line of America's foriegn policy. Everywhere Ive been and everything Ive done while in the nation's uniform, Ive taken notes and tried to understand the meaning, the methods, and the proposed out comes. What I see going on here in Iraq particularly is a massive "hearts and minds" campaign and a big investment program. There are prices to security...we should be well aware of that. We live comfortable lives in the USA.....those comforts will not last as long as we dont secure our "interests." Just like we rebuilt Europe prior to WWII, we will rebuild Iraq, we will invest in Africa through the military command, AFRICOM.  Not noly does a campaign against poverty and extremism create an alternative to turning to terrorism, but it also opens up future markets. Europe became a defacto colony of the USA prior to WWII. Still to this day you can go to many a country in Europe and swear you were in America 2 years ago based on their music, movies, clothes, slang, products...all American. The more we push our influence in the world, the more we become influential. Now there is a question of which way to do it...through war or through aggressive diplomacy. The latter is favored to the former, but when the latter fails...we should never hesitate to turn to the former. In other words, "walk softly, but carry a big stick."
