Posted over 5 years ago Does anyone know of a Department that you can enter the air support division directly, or you have to do street duty first? |

| Posted over 5 years ago I do not know of any department where you may directly enter air support, or any other specialized assignment, without "paying your dues". However, the U.S. Army has an excellent Warrant Officer program for aspiring aviators. |

| Posted over 5 years ago Thanks, sheepdog267. After serving this Great Nation in the USAF for the last 18 years as a B-52 Gunner and C-5 Flight Engineer, I would not trade it for the world. I figured that I will probably have to "pay my dues" again when I start a new aviation career on the civilian side, but thought I would ask. Can anyone tell me what departments look for, as far as hours needed, to be competative if a slot opens? I am looking at both helo's and airplane's. I am in the process of getting both helo/airplane ratings up through CFI. Any response will be helpful. Thanks for looking. |
