Police officers trust and relationships with private security officers

Posted about 6 years ago I work as an armed security officer in Oklahoma at a low income apartment complex. The area that it is in and the comlex itself is highley populated with gangs. The Police and us have a good relationship and almost all of us know each other on a first name basis. The police seem to trust us alot also. Sometimes a police officer will show up to serve a warrant and if we are on duty they will tell their backers that they can cancel because security is her to help serve it.(This is not the case on major warrants like murder suspects, but we stil go with them on those too). I was just wondering how other police officers felt about this and if any had a relationship like this with private security. |

Posted about 6 years ago Just remember that alot of our brothers have a part time security job on the side. I always try to get along with most, but, there are some security guards i wouldnt let guard my abandoned dog house. Ya just kinda have to pick and choose. Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent. .

Posted about 6 years ago I understand that, there are some guards that I have met that I would completely refuse to work with because of the embaresment they caused me when the police showed up. the one thing that I can't stand is a guard that is not serious about his job and thinks that he knows every thing. and the ones that follow the police around like a lost puppy when it is obvious that the police can see he is a joke and it is obvious they dont want to talk to him.

Posted about 6 years ago Yes, those kind of guards put a bad name to most, but there are a lot of "professional" guards out there that I will stop and talk to. They are also another source of info. Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent. .

Posted about 6 years ago On the info thing, out here every person we come in contact with in a bad way or detain for the police we take pictures of them their tattoos, get their names street name, gang affiliation and where they live. then we keep them in the computer and paper form and when the police need info on someone they have about a thousand pictures of people they can go through and get info.

Posted about 6 years ago Most of our off duty guys know how to do that. When we get some one new we just train them. If they just cant get the hang of it........Well................ Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent. .
