Israel in fact isn't a bad place, look a bit like north america, but hotter, the people gets to learn Krav Maga during their mandatory military time which is a really good martial art for self defense against armed opponents. I know a guy there he is about to get in the army probably won't talk to him everafter for the single reason I met him over the internet and in two or three years things will change a lot.  But  I guess  IDF is a good thing, terrorism and things like that is more common over there and they need such group to help to keep the order.

elevenzerosix, I expect you won't get too many specific responses to your questions in such a publicy-accessible web site than can be easily viewed by anyone on the Internet...

well- depends on how deep a responce one is compelled to write.. and if those views greatly contrast to those of the policy and current standing and interests of the united states.. then yes.. i would imagain someone would hesitate greatly to post their views..maybe the post is too potential for such a place. Ill simplify it.  These are the only questions im actually really interested in re: the context of this site.

I've never been, but may think about moving there is Obama gets President...I'd be the first to also enlist to become a citizen of the great country of Isreal as well.

There's only a few battlefronts where democracy is actually fighting terrorism on their own doorstep on a daily basis...Isreal is one of them.

I admire you for stepping up- Israel would be proud to have a son such as yourself.

For anyone that had been to Israel they will understand when I sum it all up with one word. The word is .......Hummus......     lol. When I flew to Tel Aviv from New York during the flight I was asked several times to join in prayer with other Jews. they treated me like a brother and they were complete strangers. When we were about to land and we could see Israel from the window in the plane people starting singing songs and clapping. It felt like we were all home. That says alot.  When you drive around you see soldiers hitchhiking on the sides of the road. People (strangers) driving by pick them up all the time. no questions asked. Thats a great example of the unity that people don;t see over here.

When I was an active member of the Shomrim Society of Illinois, I recall hearing about a former Chicago cop that emigrated to Israel and became an Israeli Police Officer...

My 1st wife spent her teen years there and went from no hebrew to fluent enough to become a translator when she returned to the States. Her 1st husband was a decorated medically discharged tank commander....

I would love to go on Aliyah.... alas between my lack of hebrew, lack of finances and current legal issues... it can't happen for awhile yet...

Forget all the political correctness.  Is there a tourist outfit selling "excursions" into Gaza or the West Bank to see if any of the military, police, or swat training I have received is worth a sh*t?  I know I can drill rounds all day long into a nonmoving paper target that doesn't fire back at me, and do a tactical entry, but who in here has ever been really tested?  I haven't.

All kidding aside, the closer Iran gets to building a bomb, the more Hamas is going to lob rockets into Israel until they have to police up Lebanon and Indian country again.  I know guys willing to burn vacation to get some trigger time.

FYI

You know the police there drive around with their blue lights on all the time. lol. Don't get alarmed when you first get there and think shit is breakin bad and everyone is running code. For those of you that are going to go you will recognoze the cultural different immedialtey from us (american jews). We have alot of similarities but there is a big difference. For the most part alot of them think american jews are "push overs", I had to re educate some of them on that... haha. Anyway for instance, I was walking down a side walk in Israel and a lady bumped right into my shoulder. She didn;t even look back and apologize! I quickly realized that alot of people were like that, not becasue they are assholes but because it's  just how they act. Don;t take offense to things like this. People stare, argue ,haggle, and are totaly annoying somethimes! You will see people arguing with Police and Police arguing with poeple. I was shocked! As I would have dropped em, cuffed em and stuffed em, they don't because thats just how people act there. A lot of bark if you get what I'm saying. Also, for those of you looking who are looking to meet girls (or boys if that's your thing. There is alot of gays in Israel if you didn't know that) it isn't hard at all!.Girls are very straight forward and love american boys. Prob because they get tired of all the male Israeli shmoozers that are full of themselves. Most of the people in their teens and 20's and in great or normal shape, because of military service of course, and they love to party.

I haven't been yet but I want to go at least once in my life.   It is the birthplace of two great religions Judaism & Christianity.  Israel is our ally and will always be our friend.  We need to keep that relationship strong and to support this only democracy in the Middle East.  We can learn a great deal from Israel on how to fight terrorism.  They are THE experts and we can learn from their experience.  I have met many Israeli police officers and military members and they have one of the toughest job on this planet.  Being in a state of war for decades teaches you how to survive.  Gob bless the Israeli people and the State of Israel!

actually- yes they do. lots of them... one i just saw come across the wire was" Ultimate Counter-terror Mission.. u do get to go into red zones- and more than often do get to have some time to use ur skills - the training u get on these can vary- some are the real deal- but some are bullshit- if u are interested in getting some time in and some real training let me know -
