Posted over 5 years ago WHy are there so many cops getting killed in the air? We had a female Illinois State trooper and trainer get killed in a helicopter crash about 8 yrs ago. They grounded AIR one support after that. Man that really sucked for us.

Posted over 5 years ago msg115 said: Its a shame that happened. True many officers have lost their lives to aircraft but think of how many more lives it has saved. If you need some help in trying to get ISP's air unit started again talk to the Airborne Law Enforcement Association (ALEA) I am a member and I will see what I can do.

Posted over 5 years ago I am far from being a pilot, BUT I LOVE helicopters!!! Finally got to ride in one during National Night out this past August! It was great and half of the department was so mad at me! I didn't really care though!!!

Posted over 5 years ago I began my fixed wing private last year but ran out of cash. I have about 35 hours and miss it. I want to get back at it but oh well. The Cessna 172SP rules! LOL

Posted over 5 years ago Not a pilot but I enjoy flying. I have a friend who is in the Air Force, who flew a variety of choppers with the last one being the H-60, he stopped flying for a while, now does some fixed wing training for new pilots at Randolph AFB TX. Anyway, when he would come back home to visit, we used to go up as much as possible, then when he stopped flying for the AF to teach and other command duties, we stopped flying too. Now, I have a neighbor who owns his own bird and has invited me to go anytime we can arrange it. I love it when they let me get my hands on the controls and fly a little bit myself. One of these days I really need to get my license!!!
