Stuck in a Impala for my K9

Posted almost 5 years ago My Department was trying to fit in the budget a larger more K9 friendly vehicle but was not able to at this time so I am stuck in the Impala. Our department only has on officer per shift, so we are trying to find a very budgetable way to have the K9 in the back seat and still have room for prisoner transport also. Does anyone know of a site to find such a unit or know of a site showing something that has been built in an Impala fitting this layout. Again we are doing this on a very thing budget at this time. So any ideas will be great. Also the skins that replace the door panel so that there is nothing on the door for him to try to tear up. Is there a site that just sales those skins for an Impala. Thanks for any helpful info. |

Posted almost 5 years ago Check with American Aluminum. I know they make a container that is 2/3 - 1/3. 2/3rds for the dog and 1/3 for a prisoner. I have some for Crn Vics, I don't know for sure if they make one for the Impala. Beyond fatigue lies compensatory hypertrophy

Posted almost 5 years ago My first K-9 and I were stuck in a Ford Taurus, we had the maintenance guys make a deck in the passengers side front seat with cage doors so suspects could be transported in the same unit without fear of the dog getting "frisky" with the persons transported, but that was a long time ago.

Posted over 4 years ago I talked to an Officer from a neighboring county the other week and they were in the same situation. They bought a used Dodge magnum off a local dealership and save some money that way.

Posted over 4 years ago You may want to contact American Aluminum and Havis Shield to see what they actually make the combo inserts for. My boss was going to put me in a Trailblazer and wanted the combo insert. No luck because none of the major manufactures made one due to size constraints in that vehicle. I suspect an Impala will have the same problem. Excellent suggestion on the used car also!! We have saved some money that way as well!!
