On of the members of the infamous 'Texas Seven' inmates, Micahel Rodriguez, is scheduled to be executed on August 14, 2008 at 6:00 pm CDT. During the six week manhunt Irving, Texas Officer Aubrey Wright Hawkins was gunned down responding to a robbery on Christmas Eve 2000 by the Texas Seven. On January 23, 2001, Colorado State Trooper Jason Lee Manspeaker was killed in an automobile accident while responding to a possible sighting of the Texas Seven.

Justice will be served for Officer Hawkins and Trooper Manspeaker.

It's about time. If someone will bring the popcorn I'll bring the beer.

With the nation's current justice system, it can take over a decade for an execution. I am amazed Rodriguez will be executed this quickly. In my state of Colorado, we have had a man on death row since at least 1996, and he isnt going to be executed anytime soon. Another man was sentenced to death about a month ago, and a legal analyst said it could take up to 15 years for the execution to be carried out.

On the other hand in the 1930's and before, people have been executed within a year of their crimes.

The widow of Officer Hawkins-Acosta sent a letter to TMPA.....  TMPA forwarded it to all member.  She has requested that any Law Enforcement officer able to attend, that they attend in uniform...here is the update from TMPA that I received...

This email is being sent to update TMPA members on the pending execution of Michael Rodriguez of the "Texas 7" in connection with the murder of Irving PD Officer Aubrey Hawkins.  The execution is set for 6pm Thursday August 14th, 2008 at the TDC Walls Unit in Huntsville, TX.

Many of you responded directly to Lori Hawkins-Acosta in response to our recent email on her behalf that you would be present in uniform on the day of Rodriguez' execution in a sign of support for Lori and Aubrey's fellow officers at Irving P.D.  We are expecting over 200 officers present at the time of the execution.

Lori received an overwhelming amount of support via email and she wanted to let all the officers who sent her an email that she did read the responses; however, due to the volume she was unable to make a personal response to all parties.  Special ribbons and pins will be provided to all the officers in attendance to honor Aubrey Hawkins.

Special Arrangements for Peace Officers Attending:

Parking:  From IH 45 travel east on SH 30/ 190/ 11th St.  Make a right on Ave G.  Ave G will dead end into the old rodeo arena.  The rodeo arena is one block from the walls unit and this is the designated paring area for all law enforcement.

Support Location:  The Huntsville Police Association and TMPA will have tents with bottled water and a staging area to distribute ribbons honoring Aubrey Hawkins on the East side of the Walls Unit off of Ave G.  Lori Hawkins-Acosta will most likely have a statement to share with the officers showing support to be read at this location. The tents will be set up around 2:30pm on August 14th.

Other Logistics:  Any peace officer that arrives before 3pm will be given a personal tour of the prison by Warden O'Reilly and will be able to rest in an air conditioned break room within the prison until just before 6pm.  At that point, officers will have to go to the outside staging area on the east side of the Walls Unit.  TMPA will host a gathering for officers remaining in Huntsville for the evening at a location to be determined

He may have killed himself, but god will take care of him and the rest of those six basters.

RIP to both officers and my prayers go out to your friends and families.
