This just happened within the last few hours. A columbus Police officer left his home to go to work. He is 32 yr old and was not feeling well tonight and took extra food for the ride to work. His wife called the Dept. to check on him an hour later and they had not seen him. They tracked his cell phone by gps and located his vehicle submerged in the river. They think that he passed out behind the wheel. He passed away at 0151 hrs. He leaves behind a wife and 3 small children. Pray for him and his family.

Thoughts and prayers are out for his wife and children. May they have strength in the times ahead.

Oh man. I missed this in all the confusion of the week. My prayers and sympathy go out to the family. It's sad that I never saw this on the news down here in Houston. I hope this is not becoming so commonplace that people are turning complacent about it. I need to call my local news stations and complain evidently. Take off one Britney or Paris story for these guys. They deserve the attention more than anything else. *sigh*

The funeral was very well attended today, with many local agencies turning out to show their respect. We had two officers attending.
