I am currently in the U.S. NAVY. I work with the Master at Arms and am currently a patrolman. i get out the NAVY in August and relocating in Copperas cove, Texas. I would like to join the Police force there. Is there any advice out there for me? and what all do i need to do to get ready for civilien law enforcement?

Just remember the rights of "civilians" are a lot different than the rights of the "soldiers, sailors, etc". There is no UCMJ, or double jeopardy.

A lot of your experience (the important stuff such as honor, integrity, etc.) will transfer directly over to a law enforcement agency. You should have no problem, just research the agency constituency, and jurisdiction, meet the requirements, and if they're hiring - go through their process. If it takes awhile, and sometimes it does, don't be discouraged. Of course, don't put all your eggs in one basket, research the county and state agencies in the same area.

Good luck!
