Posted about 1 year ago WOW!!! I can't even think of anything else to say... What an amazing girl! Kudo's to you for raising a fine young woman. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we don't need to act like anyone else. We will be happier if we just be ourselves. We don't need to change in order to please others. As long as we tell the truth, treat people with kindness, keep our promises, and do the work we need to do, we'll feel good about ourselves. In God's eyes, we are perfect just the way we are.

Posted about 1 year ago I cherish your daughter and I haven't even met her. That says something, to me at least it does. For several years now, we have been fighting for equal care and recognition (we want to take away nothing from our brothers/sisters in the military) yet after being a Member and Moderator for American Police vets (group is here also on PL) it has become painfully evident that the LE profession suffers acutely after LOD injury, then basically ignored (like the injuries just go away, cause people think they should). You have a very caring, compassionate, mature young lady for a daughter, we cherish her completely for her unique intuative attitude towards members of the LE profession. A good night kiss is in order for her, on the forehead on a nightly basis.God Bless you child, that goes for Dad too........!

Posted about 1 year ago God bless her! I remember the days of doing things like that. Guess it helps to have a father in LE who proves to be a truly great role model that cultivates that kind of sympathy, empathy and compassion for the nation's largest group of federally unappreciated public servants. I'd say you've got a keeper there, Det.....

Posted about 1 year ago That's beautiful. How many of us have seen others, or have been, sick or injured from the job? That body slam from some kid you're trying to control, the derilict breathing unknown, unnamed, diseases in your face, all the weight you heave around through an 8-hour day and then into your overtime detail. That's not to speak of your knees, hips and back problems that come from being on your feet for too long. Yes, we all could use some help in the end. You've got a great kid! Someone to be really proud of.

Posted about 1 year ago Thanx for the invite, your daughter's letter is awesome. I also feel like the LEO's are a little left out in the 'ol "veteran benefit" department. Not to take away from the military, of course. Even though our work may (or may not be) less intense than theirs, we typically work as LEOs longer in years than most military folks. Many of them, as is necessary, of course, have rather non-combative positions, some are mechanics, or IT specialists, etc. where most of us are "engaged" with criminals all the time. So it seems fair to have those "after career" bennies or a version of them. I hate to see my retired friends not taken care of which happens on occasion, with catastrophic illness, etc. Thank your daughter for her insighfulness and caring, she is an inspiration and a reminder to us that we are supported and that support is duly appreciated! You GO girl! -Pat
