Posted over 1 year ago This is great! She reflect thoughts of many who wear the badge, who leave their homes to go and protect those who are in need. Very, very powerful and as a suggestion, this writing should be sent to our current president for review. You may be surprise with the outcome!!

| Posted over 1 year ago The letter has been sent to the current president several times as well as numerous politicians.. No one seems to care about the Law Enforcement community. It will be sent many more times until someone shows that they care about Law Enforcement.

Posted over 1 year ago Great letter! Hope all is going well with you and your family! My thoughts are always with those of us and those who will in the future take on the daily challenge to do what makes a difference to all for the better. I believe it is a daily challenge and it is whats right to protect us all here and abroad. It would be nice if more was done for those who accept the challenge and perform it with honor.

Posted over 1 year ago I am very happy that are people out there that actually think of police officers in that way. Unfortunately though sweety it is even hard for war veterans to get the help they need. Not only now am I a police officer, but I am also a war veteran. I served proudly in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I was in Iraq for 15 months and lost some really good friends. When I got back from Iraq I had some complications and was seen by the army medical system. All of my conditions was dignous while I was actively serving in our nation's military so the proof of all my so called claims to the veterans hospital are in my military records and can be attaind just by them simply getting my records and looking at them. I have been out of the military now for two years and have been trying to get help. All and all...... I have gotten no where with it. So yes there is something out there for our veterans but it takes a lot of fighting with the goverment for veterans to get it. Saying all of that, I am NOT trying at all and by any means to shoot this idea down. I encourage you and others like you to do what you believe is right. Thank you so much for you and your family thinking about fellow officers in the way you do. On the flip side, you need to stay strong. The government loves to use people including their own (i.e. military and law enforcement) to their advantages, but when our heros needs help they turn their heads. Your voice is mightier than what you know. Keep your head up and fight for what you believe in. And to tell you the truth...... I don't look at military and law enforcement people as heros. We are simply doing a job that we love. The people that stands and fight for us (military and law enforcement) are the true heros. We go through life doing our jobs and for the most part never really complaining about it. We have the option to walk away. We believe that we are the only ones in our world that cares for each other. So when people like you stand and fight for us, that's OUR heros. So from an officer to you, even if you can never influce people to do this for our officers, I just want to say thank you! God Bless and have a Merry Christmas!!

Posted over 1 year ago This was a great letter. I retired in 2005 after 40 years on the street. I sustained many injuries during that time. The Great State of Texas, Harris County especially, does NOT take care of thier officers. I can tell you all kind of horror stories how injuried officers( 123) were in one year dumped off workmans comp, because of change in Elected Sheriff, Constable ( a legal loophole in the Law). It is a crying shame these offficers were left out in the cold, with, NO benfits or Medical care. I even got several news media people to do stories about this and there was NO out cry from the public or the Legislation. I was seriously injuried over 12 times during my 40 years. I am lucky to have recovered enough to finish out my retirement thanks to sereral good Doctors and Chiorpratic Doctors. I am still in Pain and need 2 surguries on my Back and knee. I have to go to a Chiorpractor each week to function . I had felt Good that I retired with free Paid insurance from Harris County, but as of January 01, 2012 the County has STOPPED our insurance benfits that they had always been part of our retirement package. If I had known they were going to pull this I would have sued them for all my injuries in Federal Court ( if I could have found a unafraid Attorney in Houston ). The State workman Comp laws are totally different rules for Police, than any other worker. They are treated like Dogs. Yes there should be a Federal Mandated program to protect injuried officers! I dought I will see it in my life time. God Bless all the men and women that risk thier lives day after day, for a people that dosen't really care! It really takes a special person to be a Police officer , not just wear the uniform!
