Absolutely - police officers put their lives on the line every single day - even when they're not on duty - the government & all citizens everywhere need to realize that, respect them & treat them with the same diligence as extended to veterans. Thanks for stepping up - I'm behind you all the way!

Hopefully, your daughter will continue her campaign with letters to our current President, as well as the First Lady; members of Congress and the Senate, as well as your LA respresentatives in DC, and Constituent offices in LA. She should also send a letter to the FOP and to Craig Floyd at the NLEOMF.

I see her heading off to University with full scholarships for under-grad and for Law School... I wouldn't be surprised if she aces the LSAT. She could even begin practicing now.

You have every right to be extremely proud of your daughter... I foresee a very bright future for her. May she achieve her dreams and goals.

Right On! you truly have a special daughter sir.  She is right, and we need more people like her,but even without the insurance,we still move forward in the drive to keep our streets safe. God bless you and your family, and thank you for sharing this.

This young lady is right on the mark. Last Veteran's day a good friend and retired Police Lieutenant thanked me for my Naval service, and I responded identically, except for the caveat that we had it easier, we knew who the enemy was. A LE officer too many times doesen't until it is too late. Bravo Zulu (Navy for well done) I agree completely that our Police Veterans are just as worthy, and should get the same consideration as military vets. It is they who insure that the military vet has a safe home to return to. I have a real problem seeing much difference except that we had bigger beats .

She has sent it to Bush, Obama, National FOP, NLEOMF, Senators, Congressman, media and many more... The only thing she received was a Thank You card and a kid package from Bush.

No one seems to care about the 1000's of police that are injured and/or disabled.

Both of us will continue to push this message for the injured and/or disabled LEO that  protect the citizens of this GREAT COUNTRY.

It is sad to see that the people that can make a difference will not do anything about it.

Hopefully one day somebody will read this message and do something for our men and women of the THIN BLUE LINE.

Let me know if anyone is willing or can help push this message to someone who can make a difference.

Your daughter is awesome! She was very articulate at such a young age to be able to speak what was in her heart and on her mind. While being proud of her, give some kudos to yourself for being a wonderful parent, yours was not an easy task. I know first hand as I'm the mother of four! Congratulations on a job well done.

I think we should all write letters to everybody from the President down and hope that this little girl doesnt mind us riding her coat tales. The letter was very nice and respectful and we should all help support this.

It's amazing that a 10 year old wrote something as good as this. It is very true though. Police need more support from the government and more organizations to help the wounded and families of the fallen

She was ten when she wrote this letter.  She put in a way for all to understand the war that we fight and yes we are vets too.  But we are not showed that respect.  I hope my son is 10 years old, and he is only six month right now, he will have these kind of feelings.  I was a beautiful letter, and thank you for sharing.  The thumbs up was the easy part, I wanted to give her more than one.

No offense to veterans, but I only respect veterans when someone is attacking them, and they go and defend their country... Not when they are the ones who go attack other countries for no good reasons.

That was a great letter by the way ! l

and they say children are still growing, but it is our children who have a greater handle on the things, that they bear witness to and see and recognise where a true need is in demand than a smaller need elsewhere!

It reminds me of a little girl who once wrote to the President saying she loved her daddy so much, but, if the President needed him to return to the military and go and fight a war, then she was willing to let the President have her daddy back to go and fight the war. And she knew her daddy would return safe to her just as he had left.

Why is it that children have a greater understanding, than most adults in these matters?

God Bless our children, for they are growing up in an era, of war, uncertainty and less promises fulfilled, than a previous generation!

Beautiful letter, thanks for sharing. I hope it was read by the president and changes are made. From the mouth of a 10 year old, so why can't grownups see it.  Sounds like Dad, you are doing a great job at raising your children on your own. Sorry for the late response.

This letter is something that any parent should be proud of.  Take heart and know that the way you are raising your kids is making a profound impact on their lives and the lives of others. Know also, that the time you spend away from them to provide for them will be rewarded latter.

Very insightful!!! I too have realized the lack of recognition of the work that law enforcement personnel do. My father has been in the military for 27 years, so I have the utmost respect for soldiers and all that they do for us. That being said, I chose law enforcement over the military because I know that my work will most generally influence my friends, family, and neighbors directly. Since my work will be community focused, I will know that it is always the right thing to do. I feel that I will always go home at night feeling like I have made the community a better place. This is a luxury which soldiers do not have. Law enforcement personnel deserve the same respect which soldiers get, and should be considered the soldiers on the front lines of the war against evil in our communities.

Be Safe Everybody,

Chris

Your daughter is absolutely amazing! You've obviously raised a very bright and caring little girl. Kudos. I hope my daughters grow to be as eloquent and appreciative.
