Posted over 2 years ago A beautiful letter from a smart girl. As a retired Navy veteran, I've always considered law enforcemment as a service that should be on par with the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. I think the same thing about firefighters/EMS, correctional officers, and community supervision officers as well. We're all professionals that guard the safety and security of our countrymen and communities, and our goverment should be there for us when we're injured (physically or otherwise) in the line of duty.

Posted over 2 years ago It really is amazing how well children just get things. They make things so simple and easy to understand. With kids of my own it amazes me everyday.

Posted over 2 years ago Wow! The posts are amazing! It would be great for our country to recognize the importance of police officers. I mean yeah, a lot of people hate cops, and I'm sure it is for no good reason. But whether it is them or the ones who truely support LEO's, the first person anyone calls when they need help is the police. My bf is an officer, and I hear of the things he goes through on a daily basis in New Orleans. I admire what he does. But when I think about it, not everyone realizes the extent of things that any officer goes through. I really liked your daughter's letter the best. I can tell you that coming from a child, that is amazing! I gave a thumbs up:)

Posted over 2 years ago Amazing truth, from the mouth of a child, it doesn't get any more pure and whole hearted than that! "You can't always control the circumstances in life, but you can control your attitude toward those circumstances."

Posted over 2 years ago Wow, I'm very impressed, very intelligent young hearted girl that knows how to stand up and be heard. I hope the President at least takes the time to read her letter. I salute her for her dedication to supporting our brothers and sisters in a time of need. Thank you from my heart and prayers.

Posted over 2 years ago Unfortuanely, even military veterans do not receive that medical care during and post-war that they deserve. I agree with your daughter that ALL persons who risk their lives every day to help keep our communities, cities, states and nation safe should recieve top medical, dental and vision before, during and after service. There should be no slacking or shirking in this area.

Posted over 2 years ago LaDET, such an important letter you've written here. your thoughts and concern for the police in our communities should not go unrecognized and I hope that you were given a response. I am a military veteran who was active but did not deploy during Operation Enduring Freedom and have a strong desire to become a police officer. I am also a single parent of a ten year old and it does my heart great to see your letter written with love and pride in your father, and an understanding of his job I hope my own child will have for me. You did a wonderful thing in writing this letter and expressing the need for our communities to see that police officers "fight the wars at home."

Posted over 2 years ago It is generally said, "you should be proud" but in this instance I would dare to say you ARE proud. Very well spoken, polite and respectful and even though I've never met you I'd say she's just like her Dad. Well done, be safe. September 11, 2001... I will always remember

Posted over 2 years ago Wow...thats is very well written. And as far as you raising your two children alone...it seems like you did an amazing job. She seems like a very intelligent young lady and has a huge heart. She is right though, I wish we could gail a little more recognition but even with the little we get it does not make me want to stop doing what I do. To "K"- What you did was very thoughtful! I think I speak for every LEO that reads this when I say thank you and I hope your word spreads to someone who will agree with you! Thank you! Ellison

This was a great idea, but I don't think it'll ever fly: the economy, Obama's healthcare and cuts they've taken from veterans of my era in order to handle the new war veterans will likely prevent this. An idea worth pursuing though.
