You have a wonderful daughter! You should be VERY VERY proud. You have done an excellent job of raising a wonderful young lady who I see going far in life.

I AGREE WITH HER 100% IT IS SAD THAT A 10YO REALIZES THIS AND NOT THE PRESIDENT!!!!

I just read this letter, and all I can think is what a smart 10 year old girl. You must be a proud father.

I cherish your daughter and I haven't even met her.  That says something, to me at least it does.  For several years now, we have been fighting for equal care and recognition (we want to take away nothing from our brothers/sisters in the military)  yet after being a Member and Moderator for American Police vets (group is here also on PL) it has become painfully evident that the LE profession suffers acutely after LOD injury, then basically ignored (like the injuries just go away, cause people think they should).  You have a very caring, compassionate, mature young lady for a daughter, we cherish her completely for her unique intuative attitude towards members of the LE profession.  A good night kiss is in order for her, on the forehead on a nightly basis.God Bless you child, that goes for Dad too........!

God bless her! I remember the days of doing things like that. Guess it helps to have a father in LE who proves to be a truly great role model that cultivates that kind of sympathy, empathy and compassion for the nation's largest group of federally unappreciated public servants. I'd say you've got a keeper there, Det.....

Wow! Dad-- you have indeed registered some true values on this child. How wonderful to have such a young person so fully understand this. You must be a remarkable father and indeed your blessed with a remarkable young lady. A parents influeance is so important, but even more so is the right kind of influeance. Good job Dad. Be proud! Very Proud!!!   Susy Mister

WOW-what a GREAT kid! I served 21 years faithfully and was injured on duty  several times. The departemnt treated us like lepers when we got hurt. I'm betting you have walked that walk too. Still, even tho I am collecting my pension, I still am doing investigation work. Can't keep an old cop down

Please thank your daughetr for ME for thinking about all of us!

That was a very well written, thought out letter and deserving of a response. Thank you for your thoughts. Your father is a blessed man! Stay safe and God bless.

That's beautiful.

How many of us have seen others, or have been, sick or injured from the job? That body slam from some kid you're trying to control, the derilict breathing unknown, unnamed, diseases in your face, all the weight you heave around through an 8-hour day and then into your overtime detail. That's not to speak of your knees, hips and back problems that come from being on your feet for too long.  Yes, we all could use some help in the end.

You've got a great kid! Someone to be really proud of.

Thanx for the invite, your daughter's letter is awesome. I also feel like the LEO's are a little left out in the 'ol "veteran benefit" department. Not to take away from the military, of course.

Even though our work may (or may not be) less intense than theirs, we typically work as LEOs longer in years than most military folks. Many of them, as is necessary, of course, have rather non-combative positions, some are mechanics, or IT specialists, etc. where most of us are "engaged" with criminals all the time.

So it seems fair to have those "after career" bennies or a version of them. I hate to see my retired friends not taken care of which happens on occasion, with catastrophic illness, etc.

Thank your daughter for her insighfulness and caring, she is an inspiration and a reminder to us that we are supported and that support is duly appreciated!  You GO girl!  -Pat
