O2(EOD2)Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, wasawarded theMedal of Honorposthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq, giving his life to save his fellow Seals.

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, SEALs were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center.  As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.

The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.  This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.

This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see everyday.

Since the media won't make this news, I choose to make it news by forwarding it onto you guys. I am proud of our military. If you are proud too, please pass this on.  If not, then rest assured that these fine men and women of our military will continue to serve and protect this wonderful country.

edited as recommended, also my original had a pic of the flag drapped coffin with the tridents and a close up of the Tridents themselves, but apparently the image didn't show, so I cut them out, but if you click on the link, you'll get to see the images...

Thank you.  However, please substitue Medal of Honor recipient for Medal of Honor "winner".  Anyone who has received an award for valor or meritorious service will never claim to have "won" the award.  "Winning" occurs in sports and games.

OUTSTANDING! The US Navy Seals are the finest unit in the Armed Forces and I have been honored to know and become friends with a couple of them way back when Vietnam was pretty damn hot. These men, and from what I have been told and seen, are the cream of the crop and people that you do not want to mess with and you do not dishonor. I also agree with Sheep, you do not 'win' the MoH, you are awarded it or you are a recipient of this honor.

Mike Monsoor was stationed with me at NAS Sigonella right after he got out of boot camp.  He made a name for himself within the first two weeks.. Funny guy!  HIs dream was to return to BUDS and become a Navy SEAL.

Mike was actually an MA2 (Master At Arms 2nd Class Petty Officer) becuase the forced conversion to SO2 had not taken effect on him yet.  He was a US Navy SEAL and not an EOD Tech.

If I have offended anyone, so be it.
