Posted almost 5 years ago Hello fellow officers I am on the job in NJ around 15minutes from NYC. I developed a safety product that I feel can save a lot of lives out there. My product is mostly for officers in urban areas. Here is a question, have you ever had a job in an apartment or townhouse where the door was auto locking and you had to get "buzzed" in? Well the answer is most likly "Yes!" Most of us including myself will use something to keep the door open so back up can get in such as a flashlight, newspaper or the doormat. The problem is when another resident leaves the buliding lets say to walk the dog they will remove the item you propped the door with and now your locked in. The back up units will now have to get buzzed in to help you. Check out this site tab4life.com please post on the forum and tell me what you think. Stay safe and thanks. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Good idea (in theory). Sounds like more of a safety issue than anything... "Hey bad-guys, I'm inside this unlocked door!" |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I agree, great in theroy. In the area I work, those would be torn off so fast. the use of them would not be cost effective. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Jaypo, These tabs are not a long term device. Usually when you get a hot job in a walk up apartment your backup should be a minute or so behind you. I my city there are alot of cops working at a clip. This is only used for the minute or so until your backup arrives. I feel its more effective than using a doormat or your flashlight to keep that door open that you need to get buzzed into. These things can get kicked out or removed by another resident. Of course the perps can also and most likly remove a tab at some point. Then again I had a perp on PCP broke a set of cuffson me too. Nothing is for sure on this job. Im sure since your on in a urban area there has been a few times you have been on the radio saying "Im outside can you buzz me in!" Thanks for the feedback and stay safe.... |

How about this... You call for backup and you wait for it? |
