| Posted about 1 year ago Like edcook, I was an explorer with my hometown PD in high school, but I have to say that I was inspired by my grandfather. He was a chief deputy U.S. Marshal, retired in 1985. Every time we would visit him he would take me to his office, or the local jail, the state prison for a tour. Just seeing the kind of respect that he could get by showing someone his badge definately made a lasting impression on me. I joined the Marines out of high school and was an MP for 4 years and then got my first civilian police job 1998. I have been here in IL for about 20 months and on the job here in Highwood for 4. There isn't any other job that I have that I would want to be doing. Integrity isn't what you do when people are watching, it's what you do when no one is around. |
The local police department started a law enforcement course when I was in junior high, then I joined a explorers club at the local department in High School. I decided my senior year that I wanted to make it a career, and went to Northern Michigan get my degree. 28 years later, I am still on the job & look forward to retirement in a few years.
