| Posted almost 5 years ago OK If I had to I would set Sheriff Joe up in a hotel for a month and have him help me and leave a copy of his policy manual to include the illegal immigrants, and animal control. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Referring to MAX, CLOSE, and MED custody only...not MIN or Work Release
Prisons should be made cylindrical (round shape) versus the boxy type....this way, fewer officers could monitor more inmates. I think after "lights out" all power should be shut off to their cells...the inmates can turn on a light if they wish, but there should be no "low light" except for the count lights for at night. All inmates that want to have rec and yard MUST HAVE A JOB AND MUST BE WORKING. The booth should be allowed to shut off individual power and water in each cell. When someone is told to "lock up" for the rest of the day, he shouldn't be able to go watch TV in his cell like a child given time-out. Clothes: Personal clothes are a no-go. I'm all for State-Issue clothing (like the jeans and shirt) but every inmate should like almost identical to another. Weapons: I think we should do away with the H&Ks and get something simple like a Glock. I think we should also have M14's or even an R700 in some of the towers that have a huge distance for shots. I think perimeter patrol should be abolished as well. If you "throw on" staff, you should be on a 4-point for a day; SEG for 3 months. If you violate your sanction, you should be thrown in SEG for a week. If you "bronze-up" they should bring in the fire hose. That's all I can think of for now...

The good old Washington State Penitentuary...where more money is spent on trying to rehabilitate the inmates than pay for more staff to keep them in there (if you new what our Intensive Management Unit was like you would FREAK). Clothes can be delived by family members or bought from the inmate store. Some of these guys have better clothes than I do...I'm talking slacks and button-up shirts...even really nice sports shoes. The utilities can be turned off by hand in the pipe-chase...but we have a these sophisticated "state of the art" booths that can shut off an entire tier or mod, but not individual cells. Now you may ask, why would I want someone's utlities shut off? Well, if he's flooding his cell or is abusing his electricity (like starting fires) his should be cut off- even if he goes to SEG I think he should be on a utility sanction...but that's just my opinion Oh, and there is no manual "all bar" on any tier in the new cells...so if there is an emergency and the power is off- each cell has to be manually opened...one by one... |

Riot- It sounds like Washington is running it's prison system like Nevada with trying to "Rehabilitate" inmates with little success & lying to themselves, staff & the public that it's working. |

I honestly believe Washington spends more money on "rehabilitation" and the "needs" of inamtes more than they spend on public education. These guys should have to get a job to get out faster....prove you can be a contributing member to society and you'll be out faster than the "I don't care about being infracted" shitheads that are only going to be shitheads when they get out. There, there is your sollution to recitivism there Washington...wonder why people don't mind coming back to prison? Because when they do some of the shit they do in here out in the streets, someone shoots them for it...in here they go to a cell by themelves for a month. They should have to earn EVERYTHING...I mean everything... Visiting The chow they get here is better than I got in the service. They get cable TV for a flat 3-dollar a month fee (I wish I paid that much!). On top of all that, they pay almost nothing for heath and dental care. Got HEP-C supporting your drug addiction? Just get incarcerated to get all drugged up and better.
Currently we have Unit supervisors and even Associate Super-Intendants that REFUSE to lock down a Unit, even though we almost had a full out riot on our hands about a month ago. Someone is going to get hurt with all this "hug-a-thug" bullcrap...I just hope it's not me or the other guys in blue to my left or my right. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I would NOT allow my personell to risk their life to calm rioters. They get a blanket, a bed and food. If tyey destroy that, well, tough s**t. As for killing each other, good, the bad gene pool gets diminished, and my guys would be safe expectators. They are there to keep the bad guys from leaving, not to baby sit. Period.. |

get the drift, yeh mandatory work is the go , in australia the prisons are better than the projects(welfare housing)they get cable, swimming pool access unreal-they want to go back in alot. of them. off topic:honestly if i was president i would temporarily sterilize, pple that cant even look after themselves properly, until they showed responsibility. In australia theyve just started a "baby bonus" scheme, to top up the numbas. they give all mothers $6000(oz) a pop!,if they hve a baby(low populat.growth here)Thats across the board so anyone gets it,druggies, welfare girls,u name it.so whats happening is guys are getting out of jail-no money- and forcing there mensa girlfriends to start breeding.yep horrific.child services are now overloaded.its crazy.i see the goverment as culpable,irresponsible.b/c of these polictically correct times they wont ban the welfare recipients frm getting it..some states have stopped paying it in a lump sum to deter the welfare brigade.in 15 yrs watch the crime spike in australia as these kids start to b/c predators like there daddys.so sad, phucked up-crazy world.kate |
