Posted almost 5 years ago Greetings! I found PL through another site (Frugal Squirrels). About me....I'm a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant of Marines. I served as a reserve office in a medium sized city in South Dakota for 2 yrs back in the 80's. In btwn ths service and my present job, I owned my own truck for 8 yrs and ran refrigerated stuff throughout the 48 states. Made good money, and sold my truck&trlr last year when I saw the writing on the wall regarding fuel prices. (Got out while the gettin' was good.) I was hired by my local SO last year, and graduated from our state's LE academy recently. Yes, I was the oldest guy in my class. Graduated in the top 20%. I've been married to my beloved for 28 yrs. Empty nest. Lots of time for recreation and hobby stuff. At this point in life, we're just putting more money in the bank for retirement. I was lucky to be hired by my sheriff at my age (55), but we're an older dept...avg age is 52. Our dept has 6 deputies plus 8 jailers/dispatchers. Our county has about 10K folks. About my handle..."Moondoggie" was a burned-out doper/surfer dude in 60's beach movies. It's my alter ego that most folks never see, representing my whimsical side, not the burned-out doper side. Despite my stern, professional outward appearance, my inner self is a huge animal lover and someone who really enjoys helping others. That stuff about "To help other people at all times" in the Boy Scouts really stuck on me as a Cub Scout. I will do the LEO verification thing to prevent being tagged as a troll. Glad to be here, looking forward to it!

| Posted almost 5 years ago Master Guns-- Welcome to Police link, and thanks for your service from a recently retired AF SP MSGT. Enjoy the site. HOORAH A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. "I'd rather be a failure at something I enjoy than be a success at something I hate." -- George Burns "A pessimist complains about the wind, an optimist expects it to change and a leader adjusts the sails." |
