I received a call from a women requesting a Private Investigator. She told me a pretty weird story about a Dentist she met online and dated. She claims, he went on their date, but themnm said ha was going to poison her family and polluted the water system in her house with mercury, making her and her sister who lives w/ her very sick.

Sh e told me she called the Police and they did a short invest, but because the guy is a Dentist and has no other criminal record, they dropped the case, but assured her that he was on record from her report. He suggested she have a PI work in it.

I can't do this gig even if I wanted to, but I wanted some feedback from anyone that maybe has had similar circumstances. Do you think she is a crackpot? I would hate to see a madman poisoning his dates from the Net, but the whole thing sounds too weird. She is serious, and asked me to find a referral, preferably a women investigaor who could take on her case. She is afraid he will kill her. He still is calling and threatening her.

I need some feedback.  Anne

If I am understanding you correctly, he told her that he was going to poison her when they went on their date? So, he was going to commit a murder and told the intended victim about his plan? That just doesn't make since. And then the police investigate, but since he doesn't have a record they won't work the case? That doesn't make since either. Many cases have offenders without prior arrests. Has she recorded the threats so they can be verified and why can't she press charges for the telephone threats? Just looking at what you have presented sounds a bit crackpot-ish to me. Something isn't right.

Anne,

The truth is often stranger than fiction as you already know.... But I have to say that my "hinky-meter" is going off....

She filed a go nowhere police report and he's still calling her? Weird at best.... So more digging definitely should be done... If she's a wack job with $$$ to waste on a PI, let her.... if not, maybe it's a bizarre Dr Dental Death who just went of the deep end and is getting ready to commit some twisted murders....

Think about it....make the lady look like a wacko and then kill her anyway.... if he's a medical professional he's clearly got access to all sorts of pharmacopia....

Maybe the State Dental Board is a place to look as well?

Let's look at the issues.  They went on a date and he said he was going to kill her and her family.  This on it's face sounds strange.  No argument, no problems, just go on a date an make a threat????  If he was serious why tip her off????  If he's still making phone threats why can't she record them?  Why can't she show the calls through phone records?  Why wouldn't the police do an investigation??  Maybe she has issues???

Not enough information to draw a conclusion but.........
