What type of dog are you or your agency using now?

Posted about 1 year ago I wanted to see what breeds are being used currently. I saw by the other thread that a lot of GSD and Mali are being used, but what else? We are actually looking at several "different" breeds to use for search and\or bite, and thought I'd see if anyone here is already possibly using them. Thanks! |

| Posted about 1 year ago Single purpose we use Labs (mostly), but also a couple of Goldens and 1 Chesepeke Bay, 1 Rottie and one Bloodhound. Dual purpose we have GSD's and Mals.

| Posted about 1 year ago Five Male GSD, all dual purpose. 4 Explosive Detection/Patrol. 1 Narcotic/Patrol. Our task force, however has several Labs, Chessies and at least one Golden. |

| Posted about 1 year ago My agency just retired my Rottie mix (drug detection). I now have a dual purpose GSD (protection/drug work). The rest of the fellas have GSDs and Mals. |

We use GSD dual purpose K-9s. Patrol, narcotics, and cadaver.

| Posted about 1 year ago we use hounds for tracking (bloodhounds and a cross) and we are using a GSD for narc only and have a Mal ordered for dual purpose. One of our local depts. uses a dutch shep also |

| Posted about 1 year ago I was looking to see if any agencies were using Heelers, or Heeler/Border Collie mixes. The USDA and private trainers have found these to be great scent dogs, compact enough to get into every crevice, longer working in the heat and not as prone to health problems as most large breeds. I heard that an agency here in Florida was using a Heeler and I was hoping they would post. |

| Posted about 1 year ago My Sheriff Dept. has one dog a Belgian Malinois. We are certifed with NACSD (Norht American Certified Service Dogs). We are certifed in Narcotics and Tracking. |
