Posted over 5 years ago I want to be in law enforcement and I am taking the necessary courses in college to be in some sort of law enforcement job. However, I am over the age limit to be a police officer. Are there age limits for all areas of law enforcement? Are there other positions with the police department that don't require you to be under 40? |

| Posted over 5 years ago Our department doesn't have an "age limit". You are required to be able to have five years credible service prior to retirement at 55. Age descrimination is a hot topic now, so most departments are carefull in how they word policy. Of course there are many other positions in LE, such as Dispatch (awesome folks!), property control and evidence handling and a gazillion other support positions. |

| Posted over 5 years ago Thanks for the info daynerus, I will look into Indiana's age discrimination policy. Maybe if I phrase it that way, they will ignore my age. lol. |
