| Posted almost 5 years ago I am one of two traffic deputies and can't think of a better position. I work noon to midnight, don't have an assigned area and can do almost whatever I want as long as I show results. My assigned calls are for traffic problems and crashes and I can pick what patrol calls I want to go to. When closest to something, I can respond and hold the scene until a patrol officer arrives and take the report. And I have a slick top and a motor to play on. Can hardly believe I get paid to do this. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I work with dogs all day. If I'm not training, I'm doing paperwork. I get horrible assignments like, Bonaroo and working the Nationwide Race this Saturday. yeah it's tough being the dog trainer.

| Posted over 4 years ago Being highway patrol I get total freedom to go where ever i want and do what ever i want. I dont have to go to the office if I dont want to I can just roam. Not to mention the take home car.. call on and off from my driveway. Being a police officer is like having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Being a Deputy for our Dept. is great. We have flexiblity in our hours. We are not micro managed. as long as we do our job the Sheriff does not care if we park our butt in a chair all nigth and watch movies or if we arrest 20 people. As long as the citizens are safe. By the way we work in an area that has around 5000 People in an area of 50 miles by 150 miles. We have a lot of rural area. Getting to shoot rabbits on duty rocks also. Bad stuff happens to good people, handle it and overcome.

| Posted over 4 years ago God i love mental warrants. We are plain clothes, all get take home unmarked cruisers with gas cards, get equipment and uniform allowance, raid vests, special training for high risk warrants, and get to pick and choose what warrants to take that come into the office......if I see a warrant that interests me..I take it...if i see one I dont want...I dont grab it. We have alot of freedom in mental warrants, and we are never micromanaged. Total professionals. Never imagined coming straight out of the academy into a diviision like that. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Being a Game Warden in the State of Texas is the best thing I can think of doing. The best thing about the job is the freedom and flexibility of the job. Lots of places to go and lots of stuff to do. No one to tell me where I need to patrol and no set shift...we make our own shifts as far as when to be out. Depending on the time of year depends on whether we spend more time at night or day. |
