Posted about 5 years ago JUST CURIOUS....Here on Police Link we have a wide range of heritage, culture, diversity, and experience...just to name a few of the many positives to Police Link. I'm interested in knowing how many GENERATIONS of cops we have here. (grandfathers, fathers, sons, - grandmothers, mothers, daughters....all should be proud to serve..and i'd like to pay tribute to you all. (Particularly those serving through family heritage).....How many generations of COPS in your family. For me: it's just me (1st generation) It is what it is.............and.........these things too shall pass. |

| Posted about 5 years ago Im the first also, but my son-in-law is an officer in a neighboring town, and my son is a Military Police officer in the Army and now actively persuing a civilian Career. |

| Posted about 5 years ago My father was a deputy sheriff in Alabama. My Uncle was a cop for over 40 years and just passed away last October due to Cancer and Diabeties. I'm now the third cop of my family. |

I come from a family that has along military history al the way back to the revolutionary war, my father was in the army as well as some of my uncles, grandfather also had several kin in the navy airforce and marines as well. the only other person in my family in law eforcement is a cousin which he had to medically retire because of a on the jod accident, he was working a traffic crash on a major hwy in our area in the morning and it was raining when one of the victims steped into the lane of oncome traffic and steped and grabbed her to keep her from getting hit and was hit head on by a passsing pickup. |

| Posted about 5 years ago GreatGrandpa was a sheriff, grandpa, was a town cop, dad was USA , I was USMC (retired now ) also LEO (retired now), one daughter is supervisory Probation and Parole (19 years) other daughter was Navy MA (10years) and son in law Navy MA (18 years now). |

| Posted about 5 years ago My dad (20+ years), mother (reserve many years off any on), brother (6 years), uncle (reserve for many years), cousin who is a motor officer (10+ years), cousin in AL (5+ years) cousin who is a police chief in TX, cousin who was killed in the line of duty Steven Dewain Morgan Long Beach PD MS on Wednesday, May 6, 1998 (7 years), and also a best freind who was like a brother also a mentor, killed in the line of duty Terry Micheal Byrd Pascagoula PD MS March 27, 2006 (5 years). Now I am a reserve trying to make up my mind which department I want to go full time with. Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.

| Posted about 5 years ago I'm a 3rd generation police officer. My grandfather died LOD and my father retired after 20 yrs. Be nice. Be professional. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet. Misery minus me equals humor. I reject your reality and substitute my own. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago My mothers uncles were police officers, one I never met and the other who I spoke with occaisionally passed away a couple of years ago. The first worked for Upper Darby police dept. and the other a retired detective from Hollywood Florida. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago My mom is a retired dispatcher for FHP, Ummmmmm, I had a 2nd cousin go to Fed. Prison for moonshining and my great, great way the hell back there relative was John Wesley Hardin, do they count for being involved in law enforcement? Also have 3 cousins, one is FDLE agent, the other works for an S.O. and the 3rd one just retired from Hillsborough Co. SO. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago I have a cousin, Tom Murphy, who is a Commander for the Palatine PD. My brother in law is an Oak Park fireman. Our family used to be milkmen (Wanzer,Bowman). | Posted almost 5 years ago I can trace the tin stars in my family back to the early 1900's...one of my ancestors was killed in the line of duty in 1919, and two more in the 40's. My father retired as Chief of Police, my brother is currently serving, and I also have/had numerous uncles and cousins on the job. I'm the first and only female, and the way it looks, my brother and I might very well be the last of the line to be blue. Don't sweat the small stuff....you'll dehydrate |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Second generation. My dad was in the office of Naval Intelligence at Mare Island, CA at the beginning of WW2. From there he went into the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and was based in Sacramento, CA. He was sent to the new Army Ordinance Depot in Herlong, CA where he then transferred into the base police [DOD Police] until he retired. My great uncle, George Washington Lyerle was the Sheriff of Pima Co., AZ in the 1930's. Don't sweat the petty things...and don't pet the sweaty things

| Posted almost 5 years ago I am a Dispatcher,not a police officer. But... I am 2nd Generation LE. My mother was a police officer and my brother is a Deputy and I have an Uncle that is DEA. IN GOD WE TRUST... ALL OTHERS WE RUN NCIC RIP MOM... SEE YOU IN HEAVEN! |

| Posted almost 5 years ago My dad was a military police officer in the Navy way back when (between WW II and Korea), then was a Special Deputy Sheriff for our county for several years prior to his death. I was sworn for about 14 years before moving to a non-sworn position with a different agency. My husband is LEO. There is also a family story that my great-grandfather rode with the Texas Rangers when Frank James did the same. I wish I knew if it was true, but sadly, he died when I was very young and there really isn't anyone to confirm or deny the tale. SO... I choose to believe it, which makes me 3rd generation with one skipped between great-grandpa and dad. |
