It is time for us to start to negotiate our contract for the next three years. Ohio is a collective bargaining state, so we negotiate with the City, and are represented by the FOP.

I'm trying to discover little extras that can be used to bolster up the pay package. How's your benefits look, especially those that are not so much a matter of % increases, or health care. I'm looking for ideas in the range of longevity pay, personal days, shift differential, etc...

What do you get that you find particularly beneficial to you and your department members?

It is also contract time for us as well. It is also a three year contract. We will be trying to get a 10% raise this year followed by 4% raises for the following two years. We will also be going for lifetime benefits. The rest of our contract is pretty good. We get a good amount of vacation time that increases with time on the job, 6 personal days, and 12 sick days. Hope I was able to help.
