My son 25 yrs old was beat up prettiy bad by a gang of thugs that are trying to use alcohol as their defense. This is not the first time these guys have done this type of beating. My son who can take a guy one on one was knocked out with a pipe to the back of the head and then they beat him to a pulp. What do you all think about the alcohol defense?

A person should always be held responsible for their actions, inebriated or not.

Girls get much better looking after a few brewskies, maybe theres a connection.....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Thugs cannot use it as a defense, its just an excuse!

Defense attorneys will grab any straw possible to win a case. Intoxication is not a defense to prosecution.

I agree with what the Great State of Texas says about it: Penal Code ยง 8.04. INTOXICATION. (a) Voluntary intoxication does not constitute a defense to the commission of crime.

Think about it God bless Rhode Island just doesn't sound that cool. Alcohol as an excuse to do anything is pretty pathetic. These guys need to get their heads bashed in by a lead pipe.

I think its time to start a real life "A" team, for the right money i will drive to where you live and take care of the bullies in your neighborhood in a way that they won't want a repeat meeting.

wish i could tell you what to do, but even if they are found guilty he will probably see them again. if it were me, i would find these guys and have a talk with them one on one untill i made myself clear, i have been there and can tell you there is no easy answer, sometimes you have to stand your ground and worry about the consequences later.

IM NOT TALKING ABOUT GOING POSTAL, JUST TAKING UP FOR YOURSELF.

He's a fighter and I told him if they get off, take them to the gym and go at it that way. Have them sign a consent (which is what these guys to in that ultimate fighting rings) that whatever happens happens. If they want to bring their pipes, then so be it, you can bring a pipe, If they want 2 guys, then you get 2 guys, but it will be even this time.

The consumption of alcohol is NOT a legal defense. That is something that the prosecutor should immediately have tossed.
