I heard our department isn't going to get anymore because of the Gas Hog effect they have. But damn, they are sexy as hell in my opinion!

The Charger has it all over the Crown Vic. power, handling, AND fuel mileage unless you get one of the Hemi's. The Hemi's get around 17-25 mph but I actually expect them to get about 14 around the city. They have the Multi-displacement engines so only use 4 cyls when cruising. Most cities will probably get the standard 6cly which is really as quick and fast as the Crown Vic. They just make one hell of a police unit. As for the longevity, you cannot say right now. Many are going by the reliability of the Stratus and that isn't fair. Dodge has made great improvements with their drive-train which is why they now have a lifetime warranty of the new units. I don't think that applied to the police units but still, if they are that confident they have a tough product. Everyone that I know that has driven both love the Charger with a passion!

My department just got three Chargers with Hemi's. My Chief said he got them for the gas mileage. I think in the long run he's going to be in for a huge disappointment. A major problem with them is the size. There is no room side to side with the console and my head is about an inch from the roof. They're not much, if any, bigger that the impalas . Thank God I don't have to drive one.
