Constant change... you constantly encounter new people and different situations.

Signing my name on the bottom of the arrest sheet. It shows I've done my job and for at least one hour the street is a little safer. I only say that because I have had countless (multiple felony charges) arrests where they have posted bail before I even had the chance to sit down to type the report. I really live for the moments where I can put a solid probable cause arrest together and know it was all my initiative (not a call for service).

I enjoy many facets of this job, but I have to agree with Rcbaron when he says encountering new people. The different situations are far a few between. I've always held that we handle the same situations over and over just with new locations and faces. I think what amazes me the most in this job though, are the stories you hear from complainants and some of the reasons we are dispatched in the first place. (We have to go to every complaint, no matter how ridiculous...and we HAVE to write a report on it...what a waste of time and resources).

The freedom of not being tied down in a closed room all day and the "no day is the same as before"

hearing some man high on crack after abusing someone weaker than him tell me " YOUR NOT TAKING ME TO JAIL"..........that is sweet music to my ears.

Meth cooks telling me that they really wanted to be cops as they are riding to jail...seriously, Ive had several say this. One was wearing a cap w/"police" on it. I felt good about this arrest.

Thge interaction with people, and the fact that something I say/do just may make a difference somehow. I came from a sales background, and switched careers to police work late in life (I was 40 when I became a cop). I think my prior experience makes me a better cop, and it shows during my interactions with people...good or bad.

I love working with kids and crazy people. The kids make this job all worth while, the success stories that is. And the EDP's, make me use my imagination.

I enjoy the interaction with people as well. I also like being able to out think whoever I'm dealing with. Nothing like tripping someone up after they have told you a story and you say "Ok, now one more time could you tell me what happened?" You think they would learn to remember their story as they are telling it!

Riding my motor, getting to arrest people, and getting paid for it! LOL! Really, there are so many things like recreating what happened in an accident based on just the physical info, out-smarting the bad guys on a regular basis, protecting those who are unable to take care of themselves from those that take advantage of others.

Working the lights, the sirens, driving fast, making everyday life a little safer and having a little girl you've never met come up to you, give you a hug and thank you for saving her daddy.

Oh yeah! The chicks, good call Tx_LawMan
