I was wondering who everyone is in the explorer group. Please post a little about yourself and your post.

To start off, I'm Officer Jones from the Travis County Sheriff's Office and I'm an Associate Advisor to Explorer Post #1099. Our post has about 12-16 active members and we are trying to get info about any and all competitions that we can participate in.

In January of 2006, I joined a Police Explorer post. I volunteer many hours each week including meetings and ride-outs with Officers. Some weeks I volunteer 20-35 hours in community events such as festivals, parades, football games, and safety expos. I am one of five Explorers selected as a member of the SWAT Team. I received many honors at the yearly award ceremony held each October including, Explorer of the year (2007) Crime Prevention Explorer Of The Year (2006 & 2007), Community Service Award, Crime Prevention Award, Firearms Training Award, Law Enforcement Service Award, Law Enforcement Training Award, and the Explorer Academy Attendance Award, Perfect attendence, and Tenture In June 2007, I was notified that a Texas Crime Prevention Officer had nominated me for a scholarship

Fort Worth is a great department to work for. I can't say much about San Diego PD because I have never even been there, but I lived in Dallas for 20 years. I have a friend on the Fort Worth PD and he loves every minute of it, he has no complaints.

Instead of "everybody's information" Put the title as "Explorers - Everybody's Information" It's easier to see what category it belongs in and help decide if a user wants to look at it. Thanks

Depending on where you are located, I know that the Hillsboro PD in Hillsboro,Tx, has an explorer program...even a Jr Explorer program.  I am not familiar with the details but you can reach the Hillsboro, Tx Police Department at (254)582-8406 for the non-emergency number.  I would ask for the Lt. and he can give you the informatiion you are looking for.  (some names to mention would be Inv. Cruz and Lt. Sinclair)

I am a Dispatcher for the Blytheville Police in Arkansas. I am not considered an "explorer" bc we dont have a program, but I do ride-a-long a lot and use my opportunity as a dept employee to do so. I have every intention of becoming a police officer when I am 21 and I have learned a lot riding with my co-workers.

LT Gliniewicz with the Fox Lake Police Dept, Fox Lake IL (30 miles north of Chicago).  24 yrs on our department and retired out of the Army Feb 07 with 27yrs.  Been involved in Exploring since 1986, we currently have 32 active explorers in our post.  We compete at Nationals and IL State Competition, as well as treking out to Chandler AZ every January for their Tactical Competition.  Looking forward to attending this coming January(09).  Our Post meets 3 days a week (DREP {Drug Resistance Education Prevention}, Regular Meeting {Standard L/E Classes} and Specialty Day {Swat, HNT, ICS; or extra training day for competitions}).  Our post sponsors a 9-Day Basic L/E Academy, 9-Day Leadership Academy, A phase 1 and 2 48hr Basic Swat Course, A phase 1 and 2 48hr Advanced Swat Course and a 24hr Sniper Course.  All of our courses are residential (meaning you sleep there), and all of our tactical courses have a 24 hr continuous operation that is scenario based, where explorers apply the tactics and techniques learned.  I am also a member of our State Exploring Competition Committee.  Our post has a standard website http://foxlakepost300.homestead.com/intro.html and a myspace page http://www.myspace.com/post300ltg My motivator for our program is wishing I had it when I was in H.S.  I think it would have provided me with a much broader base of knowledge to make a better informed decision on my career choices.  I'm very proud of our post, we train often and we train hard.  Those that are members are proud of what they belong to and who they are.
