Would your Chief approve of you being on this site? Would you ever send him an invite?

Hell I would. I just wouldn't send it to him while I'm here. I'd wait untill I got home. That way they couldn't keep me here longer.

What's not to approve of. Send an invite, if he doesn't like it, he doesn't join. Gonna try to get my Major and Captain to join. Just have to teach them what a computer is for first. Stay Safe

Would you still feel free to express your opinions with him on here?

Well, he's a her, both of them, but yes. We have had many discussions over the past 5 or 6 years and I'm am kinda in the capacity, unofficially, of advisor. I'm never afraid to express my thoughts to either of them and I always listen to theirs. We are a great team and respect each other to the fullest. We all know that to get the job done, we need each other and petty things are thrown aside. It's a good working relationship all around. Stay Safe

Perhaps the Dept. heads don't identify themselves as such, so as not to risk intimidation and to allow them to post freely. Stay Safe Had to fix my spelling, damn I love the edit button

I think I would probably get the "Be careful" speech.

I think all I would get would be the "Aw now Sgt. Murphy" and the "You didn't really mean that" speech. Stay Safe

It sounds like you all have a good relationship. There is a strong divison between our union and Administrators. I guess that is why I would be selective on my invites.

We are non union and a small troop. Unions don't come without their pitfalls. Unions are a good thing but It always seems to divide a dept against itself. As long as it doesn't divide you on the street, then alls well. Support or oppose the union, but never, never abandon a brother. Stay Safe

We are a non-union very small department. I have no problems inviting my department heads here, or speaking my mind. I speak my mind quite freely on and off this board, they knew that when they hired me, and they know no to ask me a question they don't want to hear my answer to.

My chief might recognize my face but he wouldn't know my name unless he looked at my name tag. That being said I'm really not too sure what he'd say. I think it's always been on my mind not to publically share info on our General Orders -specifically... so I can't see how he'd really have a problem with this site/me.

Policy and Procedures prohibit me from expressing any "grief" or "ill will" towards the department or its employee's. So...............sure, why not.

If I didn't think he would approve, I would not be on this site. Being a cop is a way of life, and it's in your blood, or it's not. It's also a job, 9 to 5 (if you're REALLY lucky!) and comes with a paycheck. So if the boss says no, it's no. My chief probably would not have a problem with the website, the exchange of ideas and dialog. I'm not sure he'd be pleased with some of the dialog from some of our "pretenders" out there, and from some of the less than friendly (and possibly unstable) folk. I don't think he would have a problem with MY opinion as long as I'm representing myself and not the department (or doing it poorly).
