I'd like to hear from any cops who left their department after fully vesting (like after 25 yrs), and started all over again at another department. Was it the right choice for you? Did you run into any problems? How were you treated? Any pitfalls to avoid? Thanks for any feedback, I'm getting close to retirement time, but still going strong...

I retired from a 1420 officer County Police Department at age 44 with 22 years of experience, including SWAT, K-9 and supervision. I started over in my hometown a 20 officer Dept. and really enjoyed it. Everyone was real nice and respected me; I have recently switched to a Chief of Police on a 19 officer Department. I still like police work and enjoy the camaraderie. Go for it, if you have problems you can always try something else!
