Amid the news tonight that all hell is fixin to break again, in Baghdad, I shot emails to my brother MPs on the ground in SE Baghdad, here's what I got back: (Please pray or do whatever it is you do to wish our boys well over there!)

"hey oh, yeah we are good here for now...s--- is crazy here right now. most of our routes are black but we still have to travel them. we are getting rocketed and mortared multiple times a day, the other day was 6 times, crazy. lots of small arms engagements with rpgs kicking them off, and lots of ied's, luckily not many efp's. that about it for here, we have a busy day today, a memorial for the 1132nd MP's here that got killed so i will get back with you later on. later man"

This was from my friend, a sergeant with 1st Platoon, 59th MP Company, US Army.

Here's the info on the 2 MP's killed in action that he mentioned:
Two members of a Rocky Mount-based National Guard unit have been killed in Iraq.

The Defense Department says the two were killed Saturday, March 22nd, in Baghdad after their humvee was struck by an improvised explosive device.

Killed were:

Sgt. Thomas Ray, II, 40, of Weaverville, NC
Sgt. David Williams, 26, of Tarboro, NC

The two were members of the 1132nd Military Police Company of the North Carolina Army National Guard.

"All of the Guard is saddened by the loss of Sgt. Ray and Sgt. Williams and our thoughts and prayers are with their families," said Maj. Gen. William E.
Ingram, Jr., Adjutant General of the North Carolina National Guard.

The National Guard says Sgt. Ray joined the Navy in 1985 and served three years on active duty as a Navy Medical Specialist and he then joined the NC Army National Guard in May of 2006. He graduated in the top of his class at the 31B Basic Military Police Course and became a qualified Military Police officer in June 2007 qualifying as "Expert" with his 9 millimeter pistol shooting 50 out of 50 during qualification. Sgt. Ray was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in January by the Commander of the 18th Military Police Brigade for "Exceptionally Commendable Service while serving as a Gunner during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Sgt. Ray's dedication to duty during combat operations in Iraq contributed to the overall success of the unit's mission." Sgt. Ray was married with one teenage daughter

Sgt. David Williams joined the NC Army National Guard in July 2003, serving as 31B Military Police Soldier, Sgt. Williams was on his second tour of duty in Iraq, the first was with the NC Army National Guard's 105th Military Police Battalion which operated Camp Bucca, a large detention facility in southern Iraq. He was awarded the Combat Action Badge, and the Army Commendation Medal for his service, his battalion commander noting that he was a "Quality Soldier". SGT Williams transferred to the 1132nd MP Company and was assigned as a team leader and was recently awarded a second Army Commendation Medal this January from the Commander of the 18th Military Police Brigade for "Exceptionally Commendable Service while serving as a Driver during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Sgt. Williams dedication to duty during combat operations in Iraq contributed to the overall success of the units mission." Sgt. Williams is survived by his mother and sister.

The 1132 Military Police Company mobilized in June of 2007 with about 120 Soldiers and is stationed in Baghdad Iraq. They are due to return to North Carolina this fall.

This brings the total of NC National Guard Soldiers killed in action to seven.

I've been there and wish I could go back. Its not easy. I really do think that MP's do most of the leg work there! MP (Multi-Purpose) is what they say. When I was there I was stationed with a Marine unit (1st Marine Expeditionary Force). It wasnt easy. Its just like he said! My thoughts and prayers go out to them!

I'll update this thread as the emails come back from the desert, that is if my boys can message out between missions and the computers being shutdown.

Mathew Ch 5 - Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

UPDATE: An MP also killed belonging to the 1132nd MP Company in the March 22nd IED attack was Spc. David S. Stelmat, 27, of Littleton, New Hampshire. I do not get why they failed to mention this in the news article I copied and pasted. Pretty disrespectful if you ask me.
Anyways, just wanted to update that for everyone.
