Our department is currently usion VisionCad System. We will soon be going to OSSI Cad. What system does your department use and what do you like about your system?

We've been using VisionCAD and RMS since 1998. I love it, it was a huge upgrade from our last CAD system. We are starting to re-utilize FBR, and are still in the process of working out the bugs and kinks... plus training the officers to use it properly. Hopefully in the long run it will help take some of the burden off of our Records personnel... aka ME!!

You may know where you are and what you're doing...
God may know where you are and what you're doing...
But if your dispatcher doesn't know where you are and what you are doing, then I hope you and God are on very good terms!!

My department is using the IMC system, It is ok for us as we are very small, I would hate to think of it having to work for a huge department though

we use ossi cad..I think it's a good system. The bad part is that no one knows how to use it properly and no training was ever given to anyone.

Not much in the way of training on anything new is given here, It is pretty much this is your new system you do this this and this to make it work, have fun

Now, the brief intro is good, but then you spend the whole shift figureing it out

We use VisionCAD and about the best thing I can say about it is that it is that it is a CAD system. It runs very slow and between VisionAIRs updates and our ITS department it will never work smoothly and be user friendly. Dispatch did not have a say in the CAD system. They were looking for what best meets the Records department's needs.

We use MotoCAD, it's nice for police, but sucks for the fire and EMS side of things. And this is after 40 hours of training and being live with it since early September.

We have HTE/Sunguard and it's pretty reliable. The only trouble we generally have is with updates, but then again, I think that the software may not be the problem... LOL

We just switched from VisionCAD to OSSI and so far...well, let's just say we're trying to keep an open mind. OSSI sure doesn't seem state-of-the-art. I'll post more once we've worked out some of the bugs and have some more experience with it.

Man it looks like we did make the right decison then. We currently have InterAct, which is a good system when it works, but when it doesn't tech support SUX...

We are in the process of a switch over, and we looked at 10 different providers. The final 2 came down to OSSI and New World Systems.

When we started touring other centers that had both, the OSSI people who accompanied us we real pushy, and wouldn't let the actual users answer our questons. The NWS salesman would introduce us to director of the center then disappear.

Both systems had things I liked, but NWS people just had that...something, that I cant explain, left me with a good feeling..

Our department uses SunGuard which is absolutely wonderful compared to our "old system". The old system consisted of writing everything down on paper, then entering the call into one computer, then copying all of that information into another computer, while in the meantime everything being transmitted (when officer arrive on scene, leave the scene, chase someone, arrest someone, and so forth) is being written, with pen, on the shift log. Hilarious! I HATED that way. Since we got SunGuard CAD everything is so simple. Its a million times better than the old way, but I'm pretty sure everyone else on here has been away from the "old way" for quite sometime. We've only had CAD for about a year, if that long.

We're three months in and OSSI is horrible. It doesn't make our job easier, it makes it harder. For example, we have a paved trail through our city and occasionally get calls, mainly EMS, from people on the trail. Our previous system took non-standard locations, like "Creek Trail Callbox 5". OSSI will not take any location that doesn't have a physical street address. So we have to use an address that may be a mile away then add the actual location into the remarks field. Why would anyone build a CAD system like that?

Same on the major highway through our city. Before we could say, "GA HWY 29  NB NORTH OF JONES RD". Now it has to be "98 GA HWY 29N", which is not an actual structure but a made-up address that will work in OSSI. We then have to enter the actual location in remarks. I can only imagine an officer on a traffic stop calling "officer needs assistance" and everybody yelling "Where is he, Radio?" and me saying, "He's at 98 GA HWY 29." Right. They need to hear "He's on GA29 NB north of Jones Road".

I could write a few more paragraphs on the wonders of OSSI but I'll just sum it up by saying that if you hear OSSI mentioned as a possibility for your agency, tell whoever's making the decision that acquiring OSSI may be the worst mistake they could possibly make.

Hello everyone . . . .  We use Tri-Tech CAD, not a bad system. Very user friendly. We also have the Monaco alarm system that is also a CAD system w/in itself. With the Tri-Tech . . In my opinion there are alot of features that we don't utilize because of management ignorance. Ooops did I say that out loud. . geeesh I hate when I do that. . .lol

Our Center has been using Logisys CAD using mks-xvision for linux -windows compatability.  I HATE it. W have been on line with it for about 3 years and dont know many who like it.  It just dosent seem to be setup to dispatch the way we dispatch.

We have seperat caltakers and dispatchers.  normaly 4 caltakers , 5 -6 police dispatchers, 3-4 fire dispatchers.  we dispatch over 50 police departments around 80 fire departments covering i think 74 municipalaties with arounf 300,000 residents                                                                                                                                                                                                           Logisys CAD seems like it would be great for somone dispatching a single large police dept that cover several sectors as long as you dont mind using an external program to access NCIC
