Well, I am very interested in becoming either a street officer or something in probation. I have not yet started any training or signed up for what I want. I was just wondering what the major differences are? Also, I am such a small person. For women, petite officers, is it alot more difficult to even be accepted? How much of a chance do I really have to get approved as a police officer?

hmmm.. what is nypdLT implying?..lol...yeah you 'll be ok.. plus it really has nothing to do with being small.. there are small officers in my command that can hold their own..

But your 'command' is that of a security officer and not as a Police Officer. Big difference and lets not go through it all again please, it is what it is.

and even more.. a command is the same as a precint, so that would mean it's not just an auxiliary command. we work in the precint ok?

If you're scared, don't do it. I wouldn't want you as my back up if you are too scared to get out of your car.

you just gotta gain some confidence that is all.. go to your local pd, see if you can go on a ride along.. maybe even with a female officer and speak to them of your concerns..

I need to make something right here folks. I mistook Kciampa for one of the 'security guards' that are on here. That is why I was ticked about the use of 'my command'. It dawned on me that Kciampa was in fact a reserve police officer and not who I thought it was so I want to apologize here for this mistake. I did to her privately but I need to do it publicly for it to count.

no matter how small you are, it's all in the tactics. ever heard "{it's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean."..well same theory goes for women in law enforcement. ..if your small...your probably fast!....
anyway...the main thing you need to do is be ready to overcome your fear. you need to be able to concentrate in high stress situations., and you need to be able to handlle large amounts of physical and mental stress. and judging from your pics..(pretty BTW) your hair is sooo long, you are either gonna want to cut it, or wear it up really high. the last thing you want is someone slinging you around by your hair!.
well, good luck on your career journey, i hope you consider LE as a great path..it's more rewarding than you could ever imagine!

lISTEN, IF YOU ARE SCARED THEN DO NOT DO IT, I WOULD NOT WANT YOU TO BACK ME UP ON A DOMESTIC CALL OR A SHOOTING, YOU ARE GOING TO SEE THINGS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR STOMACH TURN, IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT THE UNIFORM AND BRAGGING RIGHT THAT YOU ARE A LEO, THIS IS SOMETHING YOU NEED TO REALLY THINK ABOUT. YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO CUT YOUR HAIR OR PULL IT BACK , THIS JOB THERE AINT NO TIME FOR BEING PRETTY, AND BE PREPARED FOR PHYSICAL TRAINING, AND YOU HAVE TO KEEP THAT UP.

No time for modesty either maddy. When you are working you are simply a cop, no gender, no race, and the only nationality is American.

ROBO, THAT IS FINE, THAT IS RIGHT BUT I AM NOT SURE I WANT SOMEONE SCARED WORKING WITH ME, YEA WE ALL GET SCARED, HELL I DO ALL THE TIME, BUT IT IS MORE LIKE AN ADRENALINE RUSH, IT TAKES OVER AND MY LE KICKS IN

True, someone that has no fear is not careful or observant and i don't want them with me but someone that is scared $hitless is also worthless. The kind of thought process I like in a cop is one that immediately runs to the sounds of the gunfire but is also thinking while they are doing it, "What the hell am I doing? This is nuts and any sane person is running the other way!" Yet they still head for the battle.

I agree with Robo and Maddy. No matter the size or sex you are, you have to have officer presence and self confidence that you can handle the situation you're in. Good luck!

If you are scared of joining then don't... It doesn't matter how big, tall, race, or sex you are being scared in this job will get you killed.
