| Posted about 5 years ago Our pods hold 72 inmates with one officer if we are at full capacity......our numbers range from 50 to 65 inmates usually.....if we have extra personnel on shift that day, the shift commander will start with the pod with the greatest number of inmates or the pod that has been the most trouble lately and put the extra officers in there..... | Posted about 5 years ago At the last joint I worked, each unit had up to 166 inmates, with 1 CO in the Control Bubble and MAYBE 1 CO working on the tier. The CO in the Bubble had a Remington 870 with blanks and 7-1/2 birdshot. |

| Posted about 5 years ago Our Jail only holds about 70 inmates. When I started, 10yrs a go, we only had one officer per shift. Now we have 2 officers per shift and average a ratio of about 30-1. We are in the planning stage of building a new 250 bed jail, so hopefully, the commissioner's will remeber to hire some more staff, lol. Especially since we will probably be housing DOC inmates also. | Posted about 5 years ago In Texas for the county jail the ratio is 48 -1. There are instances when the facility can get a waiver for up 72 inmates. Our's is 48 -1 also and they are some sneaky lil bast@rds. : ) "spirit has fifty times the strength and staying power of brawn and muscle" unknown |

| Posted about 5 years ago Worst case scenarios in a cell house, 250 to 3. During feed lines and rec lines we ran all 250 out and in at one time. You spend a lot of time chasing. I moved up to a seg unit, 1 on 1 at all times and they must be cuffed. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I have never heard of a number from state. My facility houses something like 2200+ inmates, and we have about 300 officers spread out over three shifts. On any given day in a pod we have about 550 inmates and maybe 10 officers if we are lucky. Broken down even further some units house 80 guys to 1 officer (direct supervision rocks!). Most are 64-1 |

| Posted almost 5 years ago In our minimum security dorms.. I will be sitting at a desk with up to 58 inmates.. I prefer that to a remote unit indirect supervision. I hate the darken room, i fucks with your eyeballs, while doing reports.. give me a super lit dorm any day.. it makes me a LOT more happy, after a day in there, than a day in a remote... 4 sections by 24 (72 to 1 ratio) |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Where im at we have 4 general pods each pod has on average 64 inmates and we can hold 15 in seg. and 2 extra holding cells. on Average we have 7 officers on shift .get this 1 officer is responsible for 2 pods, so 2 officers are in charge of the 4 main pods on each shift. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago The ratio depends on our shift in a open setting, ie... gyms and or dorms. 2nd watch in a dorm has one officer to approximately 100-130 inmates. First andThird watch have two officers to approximately 175-200 inmates. Anything with a number under 100 would be an absolute dream. KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL AT ALL TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
