I have spent all my adult life as a Marine. Now it's time to call it quits. I stumbled on this site doing research on what my next step will be. My brother works as a deputy in the sleepy town we grew up in. He has been a night shift super for a few years now and he's wanting me to apply. I have to say I am not really impressed. I have lived a fast paced life for so long I cannot see myself sitting in a cruiser all day or night pulling over broken tail lights.

I have am really at a loss. I have looked into Blackwater and interviewed but that would take me back to the same place I am looking to get out of. I really hoping to get some recommendations from guys who have been in my spot. There are some government agency's hiring but I don't have a college education and most of the agency's requires at least a BA.

Look forward to hearing from you guys.

thx

Sounds like you are in the same boat as me, unless you have a degree you are going to have trouble finding the fight you are looking for. what state do you live in?

Well I am in Florida Now, I am going out to LA to look at a interview on Wednesday. I put in a Initial interest form to the FCIP they called me back immediately after receiving it. I did a twenty minute phone interview their supposed to get back to me before next Friday. I hear the Marshall's are recruiting like crazy, but that could be a lie.

I had a chance at marshall's early in my career and didn't take it because i knew someone in it that turned me around, he was a dumbass, and is now a security guard. back then it did not require a degree. he told me that i would hate it because they would move me around all the time and i would be a glorified bailiff.
LA. sounds to me like the place to get in the most trouble.but if you do get a chance at marshalls i would take it.

Well don't get me wrong I am not a shoot em up GI Joe, I am just looking for something more than being a corrections officer, or a traffic cop. Not that those are bad positions I just don't think they would be right for me. I am on the verge of reenlistment but my wife said she would leave me. Damn women...

I do know what you are saying, it has nothing to do with gi joe or rambo. im looking for a challenge, nothing more, my wife just nixed me going over seas with dyncorp. I think your best chance for finding what you are looking for is going to be with a big department, you will have more room to move from one division to another until you find niche.

We would be honored to have a marine!
You would find L.A. very satisfying to WORK in,,, personal life is more difficult because of how crowded it is but the weather is fantastic

We have out of state 3 day weekend testing

My LAPID RAPID brethren (bless his lil heart..I do love them, btw it wasnt me ed that took a duster and sent him into the lobby of shootin newton to speak with the nice LAPD officer) cant offer you what we can... thousands of miles of patrol areas... from the mountains to the sea to ghetto to resident rural deputy.. more than 45 patrol stations

We have every kind of detail you could ask for... from motorcycle gangs to mountain rescue.. from Narco to Homeland security...from child abuse to computer crimes.

As a Swat deputy you could train with every miltary agency out there.. heck we might just send you back to Long Rifle school at Pendleton... wouldn't that be just special!!!

Most new deputies go through the academy, get sent to custody for a year or two before patrol. Custody deputies make close to 100k their first year with all the overtime available.. they buy their condo or house in Antelope Valley somewhere.. maybe get an academy warbride and a new corvette.. then settle down in becoming a patrol copper and building a career

I should add.. the benefits are outstanding.. and I dont just mean the tangible ones

Put a STAR in your future

thats my pitch..Im sticking to it
