I wonna know how do officers from countries which are routinely armed feel about those of us that are not routinely armed?

Do you feel that you could be unarmed, even in the UK????

I would gladly go unarmed in the UK, it would be nice to know that there is only a small chance to run into a thug with a gun, instead of knowing just about everyone is armed.
To me hand to hand is not as serious if you don't have to worry about losing your gun in a fight.

It's insane for a law enforcement officer not to be armed, anywhere.

Now days a police officer in the US would be nuts to not be armed. It is bad enough the turds have more firepower then us alot of the times as is. Going on duty without a weapon is suicide where I live.

Now, no laughing........

But the role I perform is a Community Officer (Not a sworn officer) official title: POLICE COMMUNITY SUPPORT OFFICER. We dont carry 'any defensive protection'. We only carry a radio, torch, booking paperwork and we have to defend ourself using our 'Communication Skills' when it goes wrong. But in saying that, our role is supposed to be Non Confrontational. But that depends on who we come across!

I have heard all of those items used by leos in a last ditch attempt as a weapon. Being able to justify the use of the force is the key barring any limits set by policy or procedure

THE PD I USED TO WORK FOR HAS NO ARMED CORRECTIONS AND DOES THE EXACT SAME THING THE PD I WORK FOR NOW. THERE WERE TIMES A PISTOL EVEN A TASER WOULD HAVE SAVED INJURY TO THE OFC AND SUSPECT. SOME DAY THE POLITICS WILL GET SORTED OUT AND THINK OF THE SAFETY OF THEIR EMPLOYEES THEN SAVING MONEY.
