it is sad to say but i do not know if the blue brotherhood is still around like i always heard about when i was growing up. i still hear about it in small towns but once you leave there you are on your own. i was just wondering what is was like around the country and if the brotherhood is still as strong as always.

If you come to NYC we will bend over backwards for fellow LEO's. The same is true in Chicago, L.A., Detroit and most other big and small cities and towns. There are a few agencies, LIKE VIRGINIA STATE POLICE for example, that think they are saving the planet and are in their own little world. They take things a little too serious for my liking. But for the most part, the Brotherhood is still alive and well.

that is good to hear since most places right around me are like you said think they are saving the planet and are in their own little world.

It is still alive up here in Connecticut brother and sister!

the brotherhood is alive, but it has become selective. its up to the individual officer to practice the faith. odin said it's dying in the south...i'm with a department in N.C., and we have our tick turds and aSK kissers, but for the most part, we look after our own. it's up to those of us who've been around a while to teach the rookies that there are only a hand full of idiots that are willing to do this job, and we gotta take care of our own.

No, I have been in law enforcement for over 17 years, it has changed alot. Officers use to really look out for each other, now it seems like you will get stabbed in the back just so some one can move up. When I first started you would never have to worry who had your back, even if you didn't get along with some one, all you had to say was Officer in the need of assistance and whatever petty thing you had against eachother was out the window until all was back to normal.

AS NYPD LT SAID, HERE IN NY CITY, IF YOU CARRY A BADGE, YOU'D HAVE CARTE BLANCHE (WITHIN REASON). UNFORTUNATELY, THE YOUNG COPS ON THE JOB HERE DON'T TREAT ANY COPS WELL. NOT EVEN RETIRED COPS FROM THEIR OWN JURISDICTION. VETERAN COPS STILL DO, I BELIEVE.
