This is a fantastic tool. The device is a defensive weapon with easy to use practicality. I have had many successful arrests with the Taser and it has saved me from injury a number of times. I am impressed with the technology, though there are a few short-comings. This is not a fool-proof weapon. In the probe mode, if the probes do not BOTH seat in the target, the device will not incapacitate, immobilize or assist in subduing the violator. There are also instances where the device does not activate immediately when you depress the trigger and THAT can be a little disconcerning, but it occurs infrequently. If this were a firearm, it would be unacceptable. Distance and other less than lethal force options in addition to your sidearm, make it less of an issue, yet one for consideration.

Absolutely the best tool on my duty belt. Much like the sound of a shotgun being racked, the simply motion of drawing this item from its holster has quelled many a volatile situation.

At first I didn't like the idea of using electricity to control someone, but after my certification class on electronic control devices I definitely changed my mind. I feel this product is by far a more effective tool than OC Spray. The X26 is easy to use and does an excellent job of controlling a combative subject.

The X26 is compact and fits snug on the officrs duty belt without taking up a lot of room. There are several styles of holsters available for this taser. Don't leave the office with out it.

Although it is more debilitating than OC, the X26 doesnt share it's lasting effects. Had my ride, it pissed me off more than anything. Works good enough just as a visual deterrent.

Since the very first day I was issued the Taser X-26 I have not wacked anyone with my ASP baton. I can’t remember the last time I even used it. The Taser X-26 not only is very effective in apprehending the uncooperative suspects it also saves you a lot of creative writing when it comes to filling out the use of force reports.

This is an amazing life saving tool!!!! I served in Iraq for eight and a half months last year. My job was to run the Special Housing Unit (SHU) for the largest concentration of detainees (terrorists that are awaiting trial) in the world (approximately 15,000-20,000). My people and I had numerous physical altercations and contact on a daily basis and less than lethal force was the only option available for officer protection. I am certified by DoD to use the TASER X26e and will stand by it's effectiveness as a life saving tool (not a life taking weapon as some politicians both in uniform and out have said). The various cartridges allow for different uses as far as distance goes. The laser sight allows the officer to track his target even during take downs. The best feature I think is the ability to convince the subject that they really should comply with every and all commands/directions given. By removing the cartridge and pulling the trigger, you can display the current they will feel should they continue to resist. As long as I (or one of my people) used the TASER X26, none of my people or the detainees were ever injured. A bright red dot on your chest, or the display of active current along with the warning that it will be used are strong arguments to 'stop resisting' (which incidentally was our unit motto over there).

The X-26 Taser is one of the best tools at our disposal as Detention Officers. I have used it several times to bring a situation under control quickly. The use of the Taser has helped us to avoid injuries to officers and inmates by eliminating the need to get into a Polyester Pile Up when dealing with a disorderly subject. It has been an excellent tool and one that most inmates want to avoid.

As an instructor for our department I can't say enough about the X26. It's easier to handle compared to the M26 and still kicks a punch. If your department hasn't gone to the Taser I would highly recommed it. You don't have to fire it to get someone's attention. Once you pull it out of your holster and the subject see's you've got one, he usually complies, quickly.

We aquired this at our Agency over 2 years ago. Specifically within the jail, it has had a dramatic effect in gaining compliance of hostile inmates. That "little red dot" is enough for the majority to understand the consequences of poor choices. Having "rode the lightning" myself, I can tell you I do not want to experience it again. It can deliver another cycle at the first notice of non-compliance or maintain a constant pulse incapacitating the subject until further back up can arrive.

The X-26 Taser is an awesome tool to carry. The word gets out when your department begins to carry the Taser and your use of force goes way down. I trust this product to work when I need it. I have carried this weapon for the last four years and it by far been one of the most valuable tools we have to reducing force encounters. I have drawn my taser approx. 10-11 times in four years and have gained compliance without having to discharge it.
To RGM, there is a civilan model available. It's called the C2 and is available at a number of sporting goods stores and police supply stores. The C2 has a 30 second discharge that uses a staggered pulse rate. I have gone through a class where the C2 was demonstrated. It reails for around $350.00 and replacement cartridges are sold in a two-pack for around $50.00. Taser Intl. does require resgistration to activate the unit as well as registering the cartridges. The C2 is available in four colors: metallic pink, silver, blue and black. It is designed to be concealable in a pocket or purse. You can view the C2 on Taser's web site.- Flag as inappropriate

I just received my Instructors certification on Feb. 7, 2008. I took a 5 second ride and it's no joke. I never felt the probes strike my leg but when the current started, it was the longest 5 seconds that I had no control over my body. I just wanted it to stop. I just purchased my personal Taser X26 and will be teaching my Chief and other officers from neighboring agencies very soon. Great Product to carry for compliance!

IM A TASER INSTRUCTOR....IT TOTALLY IMPRESSED ME THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT USED. UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAD AN IN-CUSTODY DEATH AFTER USING THE TASER, BUT IT WORKED AS PROMISED, THE SUBJECT WAS SUFFERING FROM EXCITED DELIRIUM. EVEN THOUGH THE SUBJECT DIED, HE WOULD HAVE INJURED HIMSELF AND OTHERS FIRST IF THE TASER HADN'T BEEN USED. HE WOULD HAVE DIED ANYWAY....HIS INTERNAL BODY TEMPERATURE WAS THROUGH THE ROOF. I HAVE USED IT SINCE AND IT HAS WORKED MIRACULOUSLY IN GAINING COMPLIANCE.

Very effective tool. Much more reliable that OC. We have had great success with these at our department. I have personally not had the pleasure of using it yet, but there are plenty more "fish in the sea" who can't wait to afford us the opportunity. Seems like a lot of people ask for it though... I mean literally taunt us yelling "TASE ME... COME ON... TASE ME!" Little do they know that I can't wait for the opportunity to grant their request...

I am a instructor for the m26 and x26 taser. The x26 is by far my favorite of the two and is a great tool. I have deployed the taser in the classroom and in the field and have yet to find an individual that it didn't work on. I recommend the extended DPM for the spare cartridge. The attatchment for the holster holds two extra cartridges but is way too bulky and takes up too much room on your belt. I am not a fan of the endoskelton holster because of the way it releases. Other than that I would recommend the x26 to everyone. I wont be caught without it.

Best thing to come along in a long time. I think it's better than pepper spray. Great tool for law enforcement, cuts down on officer injuries and workers comp. claims.

This is a great tool in our arsenol, only problem I have is the size, we've recently added the cameras to ours and the x26 went from a great size to "too big for my belt" like the m26 was. It seems they could have incorporated the camera into the light system somehow to maintain the small compact size.

I'll give the X-26 a 5 over the M series. The X-26 is by far a better Taser. There are several other brands coming out that will be more efective. One that shoots .68 caliber balls, The Taser Cartridge, A high Lumen light, Laser and video cam combined a lot on a handheld unit but great for court proceedings but for now the X-26 has my vote.

this taser works extreamly well I recently went through a taser class where we used the X-26 and I was fortunate enough to get hit with it and it isnt a joke they say it is a 5 second ride well it feels like you are getting the shock of your life for atleast 15 seconds and with the older M-26 wich has more of a donkey kick when it hits you this one I couldnt even think about moving till the ride was over, this product is well worth the rating.

We carry the X26 and so far I have been impressed with it. I have had to drive stun several people and actually shoot the probes twice. One of the calls where we ended up tasing the guy was a mental subject who had taken over a local BP gas station, weilding a butcher knife. He was not close enough that lethal force was needed, nor was he lunging at us, but the taser worked perfectly. Myself and another Officer tased him at the same time from two angles and he hit the floor like a rock, dropping the knife. No doubt that the X26 saved this guys life because the only other option would eventually have been lethal force. The X26 has had some problems with the blast doors coming off but Taser is working out the bugs on that now.

Great Tool for the job, however, don’t rely on it all the time. You still will have to use to old fashion hands on, and heart to bring someone under control when the Taser is not as effective as it needed to be. I have deployed the Taser twice. The first time, probes his, suspect collapsed and was cuffed, no injuries to anyone other than the probe punctures. Second time, suspect tripping on 23 hit of acid, deployment was too close; probes were only about 2 inches apart. Followed up with about 15 drive stuns, before back up arrived. Put the Taser up and used a lateral vascular neck restraint, (rear necked Chock) to bring him to the ground while 4 officers handcuffed him. EMS arrived gave him 15 mgs of versaid (sp) and then the Hospital Dr. gave him 32 mg of adavant (sp) to put him to sleep so they could treat the acid. Still over all a great tool, I believe every Police Officer in Every Department should be issued the X-26.

As an instructor I have had it deployed on myself during every class I have instructed and can give testimony that it does, in fact, incapacitate making restraint of subjects much safer for officers going hands on. A must have option for every patrol officer, detention officer, and tactical deployment. To potentially save a life and keep the officer free from injury this tool is well worth the cost.

This device just doesn't affect sensory nerves (e.g. pain compliance). The TASER affects both sensory and motor nerves, so no matter what a suspect is on, a TASER is the most likely device to gain compliance.

Great non-lethal weapon I have never actually deployed it but upon its presntation suspects have become compliant. Its great because unlike OC and the ASP it doesn't rely on pain compliance, don't get me wrong it hurts like hell, but it uses involuntary muscle contraction which means no matter how much crack or PCP your on your still more than likely going to go down. Great tool on my belt!

My department just started taser training and it will replace the OC spray, thank God! But I have to agree with everyone else that getting tased hurt like hell. I'm sure this tool will help prevent injuries to both officers and suspects, though the suspects injuries don't concern me nearly as much. When the local thugs learn that we will all have them soon, I don't think we'll have as many fights or chases anymore. Not thrilled about the supplied Bladetech holster. Think I'll pick up the Blackhawk Serpa version.

I feel this product is a fantastic tool, but our department has had our share of problems. We have had repeated issues with the battery pack not being seated right with our models, causing the device to repeatedly cycle through the warranty information. Again, this product is a great tool that I would recommend, but it does have some issues, (like everything), from time to time.

An amazing product to keep you safe both out on the streets and in the confides of a jail. It does a great job every time that you pull the trigger. I would much rather use this than oc, even though the reports are longer. Laser is excellent; also LED screen is very helpful to keep you up to date on what the status of you taser is.

I have used this several times. During one incident the subject I tazed kicked the tazer and knocked the spare cartridge off of it. Unfortunately for him the kick must have damaged the tazer and when I activated it a second time it would not shut off. Needless to say after going for a 30 or 40 second ride he was quite cooperative. So just beware of any hard impacts on the tazer or you could find yourself in the same situation (not that it hurt me at all). To shut it off I had to pull the battery. The tazer was sent back to Tazer International for repair. I was never told what was damaged in it. Overall this is a very effective too to have. After the word gets out that you are willing to use it suspects tend to be more cooperative.

I find the Taser to be an exceptional tool in the field. It has deescalated situations where a subject has wanted to fight once he is presented with the Taser option. It has prevented hands on situations and reduced my chances of getting injured while apprehending suspects.

Compact, light, easy to carry. Ever since my Dept authorized them, I would not go out on patrol without one.

I fought a guy one night out in the woods for about 10 minutes. I wrestled him to the ground, used my ASP baton and due to the influence of narcotics all of these had no affect on him. My backup arrived and hit him with the X-26 Taser, the guy gave up and put his hands behind his back.

Big fan of the taser after seeing it used and having it used on me for training. I tried to fight it but couldn't and ended up letting the taser take me for a ride. lol. Powerful tool and excellent piece of machinery. Wish every officer in every agency could carry one. Plus when dealing with drunks or government conspiracy types you can tell them the laser is a sniper or just come up with something else thats creative. Works in your favor most of the time avoiding any conflict.

This is an awesome tool that all departments need to have and every officer should have at hand. I was hit with the X26 and tried to fight through it and that just was not happening. I have also used the X26 on perps and they did not enjoy it either! It is very easy to use and gets the job done alot easier. It keeps us from have alot of hand to hand confrontations when you can just drop them with the taser! What a great tool way to go Taser International

This is one of the best tools that have been added to the tool box. This device demands respect when no matter what you say the suspect or perp is still wanting to fight.
There have been times when just the mere presence of the Taser X26 on scene has De-escalated situations while still being in the holster.- Flag as inappropriate

Is the best tool introduced to law enforcement. It much better than using any of the spray's because it has no effect on the officer(s). Most offenders will follow commands even without deploying probes. They are aware of the weapon and are afraid of what will happen. For those that aren't afraid, then they find out. Would rather use taser before any spray and the X26 is more compact and easier to carry than the M26

I think TASER has revolutionized non-lethal force with this device. I started carrying one (not an X-26) back in 1990 when I made Sergeant. It was a huge, clunky thing that looked like a Star Trek Type II Phaser. It used .22 short cartiridges to fire the probes and got its' zap from a 9-volt battery. It worked "sometimes". Fast forward in time to the X-26...WOW! Smaller, lighter, lithium-ion battery pack, laser, LED's, better cartridges...what can you say? I've been a Taser certified instructor for six years, so I've taken the 5 second ride several times. I'm a big lad but I can't fight my way through it. I've used it several times in the field and no one else has fought through it either. I think TASERs should be as standard on a duty belt as handguns, cuffs, and radios. If I had to pick a baton, OC, or a TASER, and I could only carry one, it would be the TASER.
