Good all around duty shotgun, short on frills but gets the job done. Patterns well, no problem with a variety of less lethal rounds. Cleaning can be a pain but other than that a good deal

Heavy duty well made shotgun. My friends use this weapon in Iraq and love it. I have used it in tactical courses and have not had a single problem.

I love my 590SP. I would put it up against the Remington 870 any day. Don't get me wrong the 870 is a great shotgun and does a great job, I own one.

I own a Mossberg 590 Special Purpose Shotgun with a pistol grip Knoxx Industries recoil reducing stock and I put a front night sight on mine. For the feel, reliability, and round capacity, I do not see a better shotgun out there.

Love this gun, my father purchased it me as a graduation gift from the Police Academy. I love where the action release is and the safety, much more practical than the Remington. Shoots straight and true

A well built and yet cost effective weapon. Transition from a Remington and the safety placement presents a problem in the short term but seems better placed on the Mossberg after you are used to it. Had mine ported with 4 rows of 5 1/8" ports 2 rows at the 1030 and 2 rows at the 130 position. With the longer barrel and the ports it shoots great patterns and handles well. I did have to get a youth stock which made it even easier to handle. Not to mention kept me from short stroking it.

Great shotgun. Mine is 8+1 and is stainless (MarineCote). I just need to put some ghostring sights on it and it will be much better.

A great heavy duty Shotgun! I have used Mossberg’s both in the military and as a civilian and like them. I have a M590-A1, 9 shot with the ghost ring sights and love it. I like pump shotguns it’s easy to switch between buck shot and slugs. You can real reach out with the slugs.

I have owned and trained hard with, even neglected and abbused my 590 for over 15 years and have not been able to break it yet.

    No pump gun is better!

My all-time favorite peace keeper. Utterly dependable and fearsome to the bad guys. Still being used in Iraq and Afghanistan despite the Army officially going with the Benelli semi-auto. My 590SP should be the standard LE shotgun.

It is a great all around shotgun, carried one in Iraq and it never let me down. The heatshield on the barrel does tend to catch things and trap dirt under it, and I really never had a use for the bayonet lug, but overall I would take it over any other pump shotgun I have ever used.

Not a fan of Mossbergs, I have had to may problems with them in the past and present. They have made some improvements on them, but still no confidence in them. I have to carry one on duty now,( Because cheaper, low bid) I would love to carry a Remington, I have several and never had a problem out of the 870. Just my 2 cents!

Every bit as good as an 870, with more value for the money spent.
