Good all around vest my old department issued safariland vests which seem like a phone book comared with this. Doesnt roll up like other vests Ive worn, is ballistic as well as some knife defense built in. Our new issue is ABA which of course is much lighter but I still wear the First Choice

First Choice seems to make pretty good vests but they more than ruin that reputation by screwing up an entire order for my department. Wrong sizes, improper or missing carriers and horrible customer service lead me to believe First Choice doesn't care much for its reputation. Luckily I was never issued one and still have my old Second Chance vest from my previous department. Needless to say, I will not be buying First Choice Armor, EVER.

I have found that our department ordered these vest the last two times. The first order placed about 2 years ago, we had alot of errors inthe order. Missing orders, wrong sizes, carriers didn't fit, straps too long/too short.
The second order wnet better. We just found that the prices were very high due to the Level 2 ballistic materal was not available. Most Officers were forced to purchase Level 3 Ballistic vests, socting over $900 each. OUCH!!!! But, working in Detroit, you need the protection.- Flag as inappropriate

I had numerous problems with customer service as well. A lot of confusion with the order and a long wait for my vest. When it did arrive the label had my name listed on the carrier but had me employed by Adult Parole. The service rep told me she would send me some shirts because of the confusion, but they never did.

I like my First Choice vest. It sure beats my old Safariland "kevlar corset", and is much more flexable with a much better back face signature (dent that the impacting round is going to put in my carcass) than the Safariland. I was much impressed by the demo/ cert. sample seen at the convention in Atlantic City in '06. Placed an order on the spot. I was not, however, pleased with waiting 4 1/2 months for my vest and carriers. I called Tom, the regional sales manager enough, that he has me on speed dial.
Spotty customer service aside, I highly reccommend the First Choice vest. It has a cross-stitched design on the interior sheets that minimize the deformation, and keeps you in the fight. It is worth it to order the vest 6 mos. before your changeout. Another excellent product is the I.M.P.A.C. flexible hard trauma plate. Yes, you heard correctly - a FLEXIBLE hard truama plate. It is a level III stand-alone plate that is flexible, non-metallic, (non-spalling) plate that is thinner than a comparable steel plate and much more comfortable. I purchased my plate from Lawmen's Supply in N.J. for about $85-$90. Well worth it.
I trust this vest and plate to maximize my chances to get home at the end of my shift. End of story.

To stay true, I'm not a LEO yet. But body armor is always good, and the vest that protects your side and under arms in always good.

This is the only vest I've had, but it seems to be good. The level III took a while to break in, but is comfortable now.

This vest is awesome. I depend on it every day I work. I just hope I don't have to put it to the
test. But if I do I know I will come out on top.- Flag as inappropriate

I wear this vest every day on the road, once it is broke in and molded to your body you don't even know its there. I know if some POS takes a potshot I'll be there to end his day in a bad way.

I bought the Affinity madel vest from First Choice. I had a tactical sales rep from Shot Show do all the ordering for me. First Choice makes the best product, but there customer services sucks. We sized everything perfectly before the order went out and when I got my vest back it was all screwed up. I believe we sent it back about 2 or three times already. It's still a little to long to the point where it folds along the edges when I sit, but at least I'm covered. I couldn't any more months without the coverage so I've settled in for now. My sales rep is still trying to help me out with added straps and acessories to see if we can make it work.
Just my 2 cents. Great body armor and product but the company needs to get with the program. They even screwed up my plate carrier.- Flag as inappropriate

I wear it in aninternal carrier, and its pretty good, I find that its very breathable and cofortable, with all the moving around in a shift, I might have to retuck once a shift, not bad for internal!
