Best weapon I ever carried, very light weight and easy to forget you have it.

I used to have one when I still used a wheel gun... It was one of the best guns I ever had for concealment, you could tuck it in your back pocket and it was really out of the way.

This weapon looks and sounds like one I would consider carrying off duty.

This pistol is made for work It is strong and cheap. I do not consider the recoil to be as bad as originally thought. I carry this off duty everywhere. Only two problems I have encountered, Ammo is expensive and not too popular so if you get one stock up on range ammo. I reccommend Winchester silver tips for carry. Second problem is trying to find a decent concealable holster for a southpaw.

I own one of the single/double action .44 Pugs with a shrouded hammer. It is lightweight (19 oz.)
and I use hip grips when utilizing my CCW. The problem is the massive trigger-pull which throws you off target, and is only comfortable firing at the range in single action.
I've had action jobs performed on my other revolvers, but cannot find a gunsmith that will work on this model. I respect their judgement, but would like to hear from others about how they have dealt with this problem!

This was the weapon of choice of the Son of Sam in NYC when he went on his killing spree back in the early 70's. It has devastating destructive power at close range although it can be a real hand-full for those not familiar with large caliber handguns.

Besides my S&W Md. 19s [2/12 and 4 inch] one of my most favorite weapons... When I was on the streets it was my back up,

Still one of my favorites. Bought one in the 80's and my wife took it as hers. She loves to shoot this weapon.

AS A "GUN NUT", NOT A "WEAPONS NUT", I HAVE BEEN SHOOTING FOR MORE THAN 45 YEARS.

I RELOAD ALMOST ALL OF MY AMMO BECAUSE IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE AND MORE ACCURATE.
I AM A FAN OF THE 44 MAG. AND MY RUGERS PERFORM MORE THAN "GREAT" WITH MY HAND LOADS.

FOR MY CARRY GUN,I WANTED SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT BULKY, NOT OBVIOUS, NOT NOTICABLE FOR MY CONCEAL CARRY PERMIT. THE 20 OZ. CHARTER IS PERFECT. IT IS A DEPENDABLE SECOND SHOT, IF NEEDED (UNLIKE SEMI-AUTOS).

FOR MY AUTHORITATIVE 44 SPECIAL HAND LOADS, I USE A 200 GR. SPEER GOLD DOT. LOOKING AT WHAT THIS BULLET DOES INTO WATER, I AM PERFECTLY HAPPY WITH THE BALLISTICS AND END RESULTS.

I AM NOT CONDONING WHAT DAVID BERKOWITZ DID AS "SON OF SAM", BUT HE USED A GUN THAT WAS PERPECT FOR WHAT HE WANTED TO DO, EVEN WITH THE POOR FACTORY AMMO AVIALIBLE AT THE TIME. SO, IN A SENSE, THIS REALLY IS A PIECE OF HISTORY, MEANING NOTORIOUS (NOT GIVING CREDIBILITY TO MENTAL STATE, HIS LUNACY, HIS COMPLETE LACK OF SANENESS).

WHAT "SON OF SAM" PROVED, IN A MORBID WAY, WAS THAT THE 44 SPECIAL WAS (AFTER BEING AROUND FOR MORE THAN 100 YEARS) AND STILL IS, A FORMIDABLE CARTRIDGE FOR USE AS A STOPPING POWERHOUSE AND AS PENETRATING BULLET, AND HAS DEFINED ITSELF AS A GREAT CALIBER FOR CARRYING AND PROTECTING YOUR SELF.

BY THE WAY, IF YOU ARE NOT USED TO A LITTLE MORE RECOIL THAN WHAT THE 40+ CALIBERS OFFER, THE CONFIGURATION OF THE BULLDOG, WITH THE GRIPS AND SHAPE OFFERED, YOU WILL BE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WITH THIS LITTLE "PUPPY"

I have had a couple of these over the years and always liked them. It can be a bit to hang to for some but proper grip choice an dinstruction usuallysolves that. Hard hitting and usually right on target. The early ones were outstanding but the newer ones are a little rough. I would love to get a hold of an older one. Geat back pack gun!

I carried one of these as my first off duty piece in 1988. Sadly I traded it for a .45. I've been thinking of getting another one since Charter Arms is back up running.
