Another outstanding book that will leave you with the true impression of Radical Muslim terrorism. It tells the true story of the terrorist assault on the school in Brelan, Russia by Chechen terrorists. Every school & college department should read this book. It will open your eyes as to what we in this country can expect if they attack one of our schools. This book is highly recommended by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, USA, Ret. author of the awesome series 'The Bulletproof Mind." I purchased my copy at one of his seminars. READ IT and LEARN from it! If you are a parent, this will scare the heck out of you!

The book has an intro by LTC (R) Dave Grossman as well. I became so wrapped up in this book I not only read it but studied it. In todays environment every officer, especially SWAT, should read this book. The events leading up to and what happened throughout have too many good lessons to go into detail; intel, barricades, smoke, hostages, explosives, insurgents reacting to police past experiences and more. The one thing that stuck out was the sniper that was remourseful for not shooting a little girl in the leg to keep her from going back in the burning building.

I was alerted to this book by a buddy serving in the USMC who attended the author's (John Gidduk) lecture on the Beslan event.

An intriguing story of how over 700 + people would die in this 3 day event. The lack of police presence even after being warned that something would occur. The "Not Me" attitude of the many Russian Police & Military units that did not want to get into trouble for doing the wrong thing and not taking charge. The heroism of several Spetsnaz Soldiers that charged the school after a bomb blast set off by the Chechnyan Terrorists makes for compelling reading.

Even more so, is the blunt warnings of the very Spetsnaz Soldiers and other military leaders that sat down with Gidduk and made recommendations for their fellow American soldiers and police officers to keep this from happening in the USA.

    A must read!!

    GREAT read.

I work for a company that specializes in CT work. I read an article in the IACSP's magazine on Beslan and have been very interested in the study of this and related incidents since then. I saw this book listed as "Recommended Reading" at the end of the article. I ordered it immediately.

I HIGHLY recommend every LEO read this book. If you have a school in your jurisdiction, this is information you need. Learn from the Russians mistakes.

This is an excellent book, and should open eyes to the possiblity of an Active Shooter situation in our schools. If you get the chance to meet and hear the author, you should definitely go. It is very worthwhile.
